Prefer an Intimate, Downtown Wedding for Under 100 Guests?  aVenue Will Surprise You!

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

AVenue, in downtown Nashville, is known for it's large weddings and it's various spaces to use; including the main floor, loft, and the basement. But beyond servicing large weddings and events, aVenue can be used for smaller, more intimate affairs as well - from a small wedding to a rehearsal dinner, even a bridal luncheon.

If you choose to just use the main floor, the space can be designed to suit a party as small as 30 to 50 people. Surprising, right? But after talking to Laurie Hardman of Nashville Event Space and Randi Events, and after seeing photos of smaller events, we were quite convinced as you will be!

Create a longer walkway by placing the sign-in table halfway towards the main floor.

Intersperse small tables for four people with standard rounds - it spreads your guests out, while filling the space.

Why is the aVenue great for intimate affairs?

The great thing about aVenue is that the loft is separate, but at the same time, it's not. You can either choose to use it for a cocktail area and then close it off during dinner, or you can simply turn the lights off and it goes away. Once it is closed, even with just lights, the main floor becomes a more intimate space.

Three long tables creating a "U" around the dance floor is a perfect way to draw everyone together.

How are these weddings different from a setup perspective?

Unlike a wedding of 100+ people, you would not use the loft the entire time. The downstairs can be arranged to still look full, depending on how you pull the party towards the front. By the windows in the front, you can have a lounge area or a bar setup where people will not spend but a minimal amount of time.

Is there a typical ambiance for smaller events?

The smaller events are more suited for dinners where everyone has a seat. If you choose to not provide a seat for everyone, then it will be awkward unless you provide lounge furniture in addition to cocktail tables as the space will then appear sparse.

Sprinkle around cocktail tables with lounge seating and create conversation areas.

Is there anything that is done differently for intimate weds at the avenue?

aVenue is really a blank slate to create whatever you want, from a large dance party, to an intimate dinner with friends. The space is really about making the party fit the client. That is why it's so personal.

What is the overall capacity?

Seated dinner: 150 /170
Smallest dinner that we have hosted would be from 35 to 50 people. Typically we host events of 100+ but we do have do have experience with smaller groups, especially birthday parties and corporate event.

I’m new to the wedding industry. Before getting engaged I literally avoided any websites for weddings only because I knew, once I delved in, I would become obsessed…. And it’s true. Once I got engaged, I did become obsessed and luckily, about that time, I started working in the wedding industry. So my interest increased on two levels. Now I am a newlywed and still enjoying the industry. I love writing, social media and connecting to people; happily, I get to do all of this with ABG.
