After 7 Years as Wedding Pro, Breast Cancer Fighter Finally Gets to Be the Bride!

Thursday, October 11, 2012

If you are a bride or new to the wedding industry, you may not know the depth of our city's talent, which goes beyond producing great music but to also producing great events. Nashville wedding pros are an innovative bunch. But, we are also a very charitable group that (like Nashvilians at large) takes care of our own.

Taira's story is a great example of the heroes amongst us. Taira has been in the wedding industry, serving dozens of brides as a videographer. For the last few years, she has battled breast cancer and served brides for as long as she possibly could. In fact, it was with a heavy heart that she informed me that she could no longer video weddings, one of her many loves.

Fast forward, Taira has remained strong and her husband, Rob has been her biggest rock. Together, they have cried and prayed and survived. They have lived their vows and this March they are renewing those vows, after 20 years of marriage, and will have the wedding that she never had.

"My husband and I will be renewing our vows after 20 years of marriage. I am still battling cancer and am stage four. I am fighting and I believe God will heal me but doctors and statistics like to say otherwise.

We had no idea how we were going to put together an event like this. A group of 14 wedding vendors combined with two wedding planners have come together and donated their services to make this wedding happen. Opryland hotel has even donated the ceremony location, reception location and food. It is, at minimum, a $20,000 gift that has been given to us. This is a dream come true for me. After working for over seven years in the wedding business, I now get to be the bride."
