Real Nashville Wedding: Robin and Scotty at Tennessee’s Rock Castle

Thursday, August 20, 2009

Over the last few months, I'd received a couple of emails from brides raving about Historic Rock Castle (historicrockcastle.com/). They said that the venue really took care of them and they loved it. This is the first of a few weddings that I will feature at the venue, to give you an idea of how weddings look there. This wedding is so romantic and the garden them is so fitting. Robin and Scotty - Thanks for letting me share your wedding details! And, special thanks to Gina Bilyeu Photography.  These wedding pics are stunning!

Wedding Style:

My wedding style Classic & Natural with Garden Accents My colors and why I choose them Fern & Cream. I wanted the wedding to feel very natural and summery while elegant at the same time. By using fern and cream, I was able to have lots of bright, vibrant colors. My theme A Garden Party

Personal touches The cake was the same design as used in Robin's parent's wedding. Robin always told her mom that she wanted the exact same cake. Robin's aunts, Shirley Hester and Faye Johnson crafted a delicious 6 layer, 3 tier white chocolate cake with white chocolate shavings and fresh flowers.

Wedding wow factor No detail was left unattended. A "Garden Party" theme was carried from the invitations all the way through the wedding day. Custom invitations were designed especially for the bride and groom by talented graphic artist and close family friend of the bride, Steve Stoll. Steve helped create the garden party theme by designing pen and ink wild flower invitations, response cards, programs, water bottle labels and even identifying labels for the drink jars. Steve also designed the napkins using the same script used on the wedding invitations, etc.

Chef Christopher Catering added the finishing touches by creating a melon carving designed to look like a flower arrangement complete with carved strawberry, cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon flowers. On the front of the melon carving Chef Christopher had even carved the same script "H" on the melon as was used on the napkins, invitations, etc.

Most special moment for me Getting to dance with my Dad. Alot of father/daughter dances are slow and sappy. Not our dance! Dad picked "Be Ever Wonderful" by Earth, Wind & Fire. We were able to have a lot of fun dancing together but the meaning of the song was just as special as any of those sappy songs!!

My Wedding Vendors: Wedding Planning & Coordinator - The whole wedding was planned by Robin and her mom, Dimple Warren. Coordination was provided by Robin's aunt, Faye Johnson. Catering - We used Chef Christopher's Catering out of Westmoreland, TN. I was a little skeptical about using a caterer, because the food is never good. That was the exact opposite with Chef Christopher. The food was delicious, and the presentation that Felicia provided was absolutely amazing. Photography - Hiring Gina from Gina Bilyeu Photography was by far the BEST decision I made (with the exception of marrying my wonderful husband, of course). From the very first meeting that we had with Gina - I was impressed. She was so much fun to work with and the results have been phenomenal. I have recommended "Genius Gina" many times, and will continue to do so.

Rings - The rings were custom, one of a kind pieces designed by Service Jewelry & Repair in Hendersonville, TN. Music - The ceremony musicians were Bayard Shelton, Sarah Pratt and Muzetta Swann. The reception music was provided by DJ Chad Thompson.

Flowers - Jill Wagoner of Wagoner Weddings, Hendersonville, TN floral designs were breath taking. Jill listened intently at our very first meeting and was always available for any other ideas that we had, even contributing a few of her own. Jill transformed the wedding and reception sites into the garden party I had always envisioned using yellow lilies, hot pink and orange roses, blue delphinium, purple statice, green button mums, seeded eucalyptus and hypercium berries. Jill and her mom are phenomenal.

My Wedding Rewind: What I would do differently if planning again? Absolutely Nothing!! Our wedding was everything I always dreamed it would be. Biggest waste of time or money? Liberty Party gave me the run-around for several months, but after several angry phone calls everything worked out find and the day went off without a hitch. Best value for the service/product? Gina Bilyeu Photography and Wagoner Weddings Neatest find Gina Bilyeu Photography. Gina was able to keep me calm and make Scotty not smile the "cheesy smile". She was AWESOME. I would recommend her to ANYONE!! Advice for other Nashville brides? Remember why you are there. Enjoy your wedding, take time to visit with your guests. At the end of the night thank God for your beautiful day and ask him to remain the center of your lives as husband and wife. Oh yeah, take a minute before you leave for a big group hug with your mom and dad.
