When I got married, I enjoyed an wonderful breakfast with my wedding guests the Sunday morning after our wedding. It wasn't something I planned, just something that happened because we all stayed at a hotel that offered a free breakfast. It was one of my favorite experiences because my wedding was over and I got to truly enjoy my guests, no wedding stress.
The experience did get me thinking. There are many ways to configure your wedding. You can choose to have your wedding on any day that works for you. Most of you will opt for a Saturday wedding; it has obvious advantages. Based on my conversation with Sarah of Noah Liff and a seasoned wedding planner, here are a few benefits to a Friday or Sunday wedding that you may want to consider:
~Saturday dates go fast. But, you don't have to change your venue. If you are open to a Friday or Sunday, you can have the venue of your dreams simply by switching your date.
~ Friday idea - Sarah said that many of her Friday couples opt for a late ceremony and reception, to give guests time to arrive into the city or to get off work. This option allows couples to enjoy their wedding guests all day Saturday and Sunday; with the work of the wedding day behind, couples can really relax.
~ Friday weddings give out-of-town wedding guests more time to enjoy you, your family/friends, and Nashville!
~ Friday weddings also allow for a lighter meal because it starts later (say 7 or 8 pm) so people will usually be ok with not eating heavy. Think of it - you save a few dollars with a lighter meal and also save them a few calories!
~ Sunday idea - Sarah notes that her Sunday couples usually start their ceremony early. The wedding festivities are over in time for guests to enjoy their evening or begin their travel.
~ Sunday weddings are earlier in the day so people tend to drink less alcohol, lower bar bill for you.
~ Both options allow spouses-to-be more their time with their guests, either before or after the wedding.
~ Venues often offer discounts on Friday and Sunday wedding dates.
