Pretty, Preppy & Pink…A Nashville Bride’s Modern Wedding

Friday, October 10, 2008

I can’t stress enough the importance of working with an all-star wedding team. A Delightful Day, Rhonda Patton Weddings and Dove Wedding Photography work together a lot. And I am so glad because I LOVE to feature their weddings! While they work with all bride styles, I look forward to seeing their modern weddings…especially when they happen to be the same colors that I had in my own wedding palette — maybe I am a bit partial:)

Anyway, check out this whimsical, modern and romantic Nashville wedding as shared by Rhonda Patton Weddings. Great vendors = great wedding day. Note - the photographs are courtesy of Rhonda Patton and not Dove, the bride’s photographer.

Guest Post: Rhonda Patton Weddings is a Nashville-based, event floral designer.

My year is finally winding down with 6 more weddings to go… each wedding is dynamic and that’s what I love about my job!!!

This blog may be lengthy but I really want to capture as many details as I can. I had the pleasure to work with the ladies of A Delightful Day Event Planning at The Factory- Jamison Hall and enjoyed seeing Amber with her pouch. She is so pretty pregnant!!! I was excited when she told me it’s a baby boy!!! Amber and Mary Alice were working hard and spot checking but every now and then I glanced over at Amber to make sure she wasn’t doing anything too strenuous I’ve been pregnant twice and know how we prego’s can be….

This particular wedding was modern, prep with a modest whimsical touch. There’s something about this wedding I absolutely adored!!! These pics were taken with my camera and I have no camera skills but the photography connoisseurs, Dove Wedding Photography got some amazing shots and I’m very anxious to see their pics.

Theme: MODERN PREP

Mood: FUN, FASHIONABLE AND CLASSY

Let me share a few details…

This floral design was placed in the guest entrance. Comprised of hydrangeas and green goddess callas- I think every bride should incorporate a design into their guest entrance…it’s gives your guest an indication of what’s to come!!! {adding a cute pic of the bride and groom is pleasurable as well}

The beautiful programs were designed by Amber Housley owner of Sweet Life Designs. They were the perfect match for her decor and color palette!!!

The {fashionista + fashion forward bride} selected 3 table centerpiece designs to accent the navy linens from Classic Party Rentals. Design I comprised of cylinders with pink submerged orchids. Design II comprised of bodice forms with sprouting green goddess and pink calla lilies. The bodice was accented with raspberry pink grosgrain ribbon and a fresh white mum and pearl brooch.

Design 3 was comprised of cube vases consumed with whole and sliced fresh limes and raspberry pink hydrangeas. {ouch…i had a small paper cut and boy did these limes have my finger on fire-but it was all worth it}}

I particularly loved the brides choice of corsages and boutonnière’s. Instead of the traditional best man, the groom selected a “best woman” which I thought was very unique!!! With something special in mind, the bride requested a pin on flower for the “best woman” instead of the traditional boutonniere.

Picture 1 demonstrates the pin on flower I made comprised of fresh rose petals and pink pins. The “best woman” rocked the pin on flower on her waistline which was totally cute and a great accent to her navy T-length dress. The groom’s boutonnière was comprised of dual garnet glow mini calla lilies accented with hypericum berries and variegated lily grass. I loved the dual mini callas which gave the groom’s boutonnière some character. The groom’s boutonniere should always be different!!!

The mother’s wrist corsage was comprised of mini calla lilies, roses, looped bear grass, variegated pitt accented with kiwi button poms.

The groomsmen boutonnieres were comprised of mini callas, hypericum, variegated bear grass and upright amaranthus. The stem was accented with navy grosgrain ribbon which was a “must” for this modern prep them.

The whimsical cake was designed by Jay at Maples Wedding Cakes. Jay is fabulous and this cake design was the perfect style for the bride and groom. The topper came from another one of my faves Etsy where everything is handmade.

The ceremony backdrop was breathtaking!!! 10ft tall wrought iron trees from Fabu Event Decor with hanging votives and pink flower balls I made to accent… I can’t fail to mention the amazing lighting and gobo design from Nashville Event Lighting and Sweet Life Designs

Emily photo booth

The fun photo booth was provided by Photo Booth of Nashville. We accented the booth with an oversized “B” made of flowers.

This wedding was a great example of how your decor, flowers, cake, programs and lighting should all flow. One simple rule of thumb….

One design should compliment another….which was mastered in this wedding. Best wishes to Robbie and Emily!!!
