AshleysBrideGuide.com has two super new bloggers! Today, I’m super happy to introduce Cassandra, a Nashville bride who loves weddings and loves to share her planning & vendor finds via her blogging. S She joined the ABG team in December is a delight! You’ll learn more about her finds soon but here’s what’s great to know about Cassandra…
Why weddings? Why ABG?
At the age of five, I proclaimed to my mother that I was going to be married at age 20, and I would be marrying my father. From then on, Barbie always married Ken, and they always lived happily ever after. However, I didn’t fully grasp my love of weddings until the teen years when I yearned to window shop for that special dress. When I got to college, I began buying Martha Stewart’s Wedding magazine. (I had quite the collection!) I was inspired by all the details given and could feel the love in each wedding they showcased. My sister’s recent nuptials and my engagement have “pushed me over the edge” in a way. I’ve realized that I adore weddings and appreciate all the time and effort that goes in to every single one. That is why I am ecstatic to working with Ashley’s Bride Guide! I feel as though I could help make someone’s day special in some small way.
Tell ABG readers a bit about “Cassandra’s world”:
In May 2009, I graduated from college and got engaged. In July 2009, my sister got married. In August 2009, I started a new job within my profession. In November 2009, my sister announced that I would be an aunt. In December 2009, I was offered a position at an elementary school. In January 2010, I began my new position at the school as a second grade teacher, and my fiancee and I began to look for houses. Also, in January 2010, we decided to move up our wedding! Lots has happened, and I’m looking forward to a great year.
What are some of your favorite things?
I love: the sound of babies laughing; reading books; choreographing/dancing; swing, jazz, and Broadway music; weddings; phenomenal photography; teaching; the honesty of children; my fiance; organization; McDonald’s Sweet Tea; pineapple and mango; relaxation; the beach; monograms; personalized items; Bones; GLEE; and being me. I could probably go on and on forever, but I think this is a sufficient synopsis.
If you could do anything {money no objective}, what would it be? Why?
I’d like to do numerous things. In the {hopefully near} future, I would like to get my Masters and Ph.D. in Special Education and/or Child Psychology. There is something about the mind of a child that simply fascinates me. I would also like to start a wedding planning business or open a bakery. My BFF from college and I toyed with the idea of a bakery, and hopefully, we’ll get there some day! Also, after starting to plan my own wedding and helping others find information, I would love to make that part of my life every day. It is a great way to relax but still spur the mind with endless creativity.
If you had to choose a movie title for your life story, what would that be?
If I had to choose a movie title, I think I would call it “Dancing through Life”. It’s a great song from the Broadway musical Wicked that speaks about the regularities and idiosyncrasies in life. I also identify with it through my love of musical theatre - the singing, dancing, and acting. Plus, it makes me think of girls in pretty dresses being spun around a dance floor by their Mr. Right, and who doesn’t enjoy that visual?!
I know that you love weddings, follow many blogs and anything going on. So, what’s going on in weddings now that you absolutely love?
My favorite wedding trends are DIY and sparklers. I love crafts and making things, and this is the perfect outlet for people like me! In addition, sparklers make for a great exit from your reception!
DIY Bridesmaid card from OnceWed - Super cute! DIY Just Married - Print & Cut and Calendar Flags from Martha Stewart. Elegant Floor Monogram - triple s design
I absolutely love wedding accessories, whether it be for the brides {her jewelry, a hair adornment, etc} or a wedding logo/monogram. There’s just something timeless about it all…unless, of course, you go overboard!
I love the simplicity and beauty in the picture above. You can feel every emotion! It’s by Evan Baines.
