Nashville’s paperKuts studio Talks Page Stationery: Customizable Letterpress & Flat Invitations

Monday, June 29, 2015

One thing we love about paperKuts studio, based in East Nashville, is their wide selection of wedding invitations and wedding gift ideas.  Owner Kim never disappoints and has many options for any type of bride.  Recently, I spoke with Kim to learn more about Page Stationery.  This line with bright colors and interesting backers is for the modern bride.  It's fully customizable and offers digital or letterpress invitations.

Another thing we love about this line is that you can create personalized stationery for your bridesmaids and groomsmen.  That's right, your groomsmen!  This stationery is very masculine and a great thank you for being a part of your big day.  Take a look at some of the bold colors and read more about why Kim loves this line!

I love the fonts, colors, and patterns on these invites!  Are they customizable?  Maybe you love the invite, but want a different color or font?
Yes, the invites are customizable.  You can choose a map, stripes, patterns, colors, etc. for the backs of the invites.  Any of the fonts and colors may be changed to suit your needs.

Are there matching save the dates, place settings, thank you cards, etc?
One of the many things that I love about Page Stationery is the invitation suite format.  A suite is a collection of items in an invitation package.  (Invite, RSVP, accommodation card, etc)

What kind of brides do these invites speak to?  Why do they love this line?
The bride that is drawn to Page Stationery is classic, yet modern.  She is looking for a different twist on her invitations, but still wants to keep it clean and classy!  Brides love Page for their beautiful take on script fonts, white ink, and creative backers.

What is the price range for the Page Stationery line?
The average price range for Page Stationery begins at $3-4 per invitation.  It is very difficult to give a true range, because it so depends on what the bride chooses.

I noticed they have a “Wedding Invitations” line and a “Letterpress Wedding Invitations.”  Could you describe the difference and tell us more about what Letterpress has to offer?
Page Stationery offers Digital & Letterpress Invitations.  It is the difference in printing styles.  I like to describe Digital as a ‘flat’ style of printing.  When you feel the paper, the printing is smooth.  It offers high style, but with affordable pricing.  Letterpress is such an art form and a fine example of craftsmanship.  The text or image is ‘pressed’ into a wonderfully thick piece of paper.  When you feel the paper, you feel the texture.  Because of the time and attention to detail Letterpress commands, it also commands a higher dollar amount.

I love the classic look of the stationery for the bridal party.  I love that they have an option for the groomsmen.  Can these be customized?
I so wish our gentlemen of the world would embrace how lovely it is to own a set of personalized stationery!  Page Stationery offers such a clean, manly, and classic variety of paper.  The customization choices are phenomenal!  This would surely make a wonderful and unique groomsmen’s gift.

What is the price point for the stationery (for both groomsmen and bridesmaids)?
The personalized stationery can begin at $2-3 per card.

Does the stationery come in a set or multiple notecards?
The stationery begins at a minimum quantity of 20.

Simply Done Invitations Are Anything BUT Simple! Make Your Save the Dates Forever Memorable!

Thursday, June 4, 2015

We first encountered Simply Done Invitations at the Enchanted Brides bridal show in January.  Since then, we've followed their Facebook posts (talk about wedding eye candy) and stayed in contact with the owner, Bekah.

Based in Kentucky, Bekah serves brides all over the Southeast, including Nashville, delivering one-of-a-kind wedding paper goods.

We invite you to take a moment to learn more about Simply Done Invitations via our interview with Bekah today.

Tell us about how you started Simply Done Invites.  What was the inspiration behind creating the business?

I started Simply Done Invites when I was planning my own wedding reception.  I got SO overwhelmed looking through the millions of invitation options.  Every time I turned around there was a different large, black book to check.  Each invite, while beautiful, was starting to look like the last.  I decided I could design an invitation that fit my personality.  With the help of my graphic design background, I made my very first wedding invitation.  I look back at it now and it was terrible!  I had no clue what I was doing, but I enjoyed every bit of the process from designing, to picking out the paper, to hand gluing 250 invites.

After my own wedding, I decided to make it a business venture by seeking out those overwhelmed brides that were tired of looking and wanted an original one-of-a-kind design just for them.

Since our conception, we have partnered with Mision Caribe, a non-profit in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  I spent a year living and working at this mission.  Their sole purpose is to reach the lost by building churches. Those churches reach out to the community by building homes, providing feeding programs, clothing drives, medical drives, dental assistance, and so much more!  I am so honored to be aligned with this great cause!  We donate a portion of each sale to Mision Caribe.  The people of Honduras have forever impacted my life, and this is a great way to give back to a community that gave so much to me.

What would you say sets Simply Done Invites apart from other invitation businesses?

I think the main thing that sets us apart from other companies is the originality.  We really emphasize being different and stepping outside of the traditional white sheet of card stock with cursive black typeface.  Use some color!  Add some embellishments!  It’s so awesome that invitations are evolving and changing the tone of weddings.  My favorite thing to tell a bride when she says people are just going to throw out the invitation is “they most definitely will, if you send them an un-original invite."  I know I do!  But I always save the pretty ones!  If you don’t care about your invites, your guests won’t either! :)

When a bride contacts you, what steps are taken to understand her style?

We talk about the entire wedding.  I want to know colors, flowers, themes- everything.  There are also little details that are important.  I’m a visual person, so I love to use inspiration boards.

What is the average price range for a package?

We take a $100 payment up front that covers the custom design, unlimited editing from save-the-dates to thank you notes, and one physical proof with options of paper and materials.  It’s important to me that you know what you are ordering before you spend the money!  Most brides spend between $4-$7 per set, including all embellishments, pocket folds or custom made tags.  I believe in an up front charge, so there are no hidden fees and no random charges for editing and proofing.

What is your favorite part about working with brides?

I love LOVE!  You can talk to me all day about it, and I think that is why I love working with brides.  They are so in love and excited!

What is the best advice you could give a bride in the beginning stages of her planning process?

Don’t skimp on the invites…  Does that make me partial? :) Kidding, sort of…  My best advice is to have fun!  This is your wedding, and, at the end of the day, you are marrying the person of your dreams.  Keep that in the forefront of your mind and don’t let anyone distract you from the significance and importance of the day!

What is your favorite trend in invitations?

If I could glitter bomb everything, I probably would.  I’m obsessed.  My second choice would be the florals that are popping up everywhere!  They make me want to run in a field, but I hate running, so I get over that quick.

What is your favorite invitation that you have designed?

I know this is such a cop out, but I love MOST, if not all my invites.  I spend so much time designing and thinking about each one that I always love the end result.  I’m a paper addict.  I just can’t help loving them all! I just love what I do, and I hope my work reflects that!

Photo credits for these images go to Hanna Salonen Photography and Burtch Photography!  They are totally awesome wedding photographers that rock my socks off with the awesome pics.  (ABG adds: There are tons of great photos of invitation designs on their Facebook page.)

East Nashville’s paperKuts studio Offers Bright, Customizable Invitations for Bold, Modern Brides

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

The invitation is often the first glimpse of your wedding your guests will see. Not only do you want to share the details of your wedding, but you hope to display your style and personalities as a couple. Colors, pictures, themes, and clever quotes are all great ways to do just that.

paperKuts studio in East Nashville offers the Inscribe invitation line.  It's affordable, fully customizable and perfect for the modern bride: Inscribe invitations are Ashley's favorite!  As modern girl who loves color, she loves them!  The line is bright, bold, and perfect for your sunny wedding.

Kimberly Washington, owner of paperKuts studio, works with couples to choose colors, fonts, and wording to complete their Inscribe invitation.  Another great thing about this line is that you can create many items for your wedding day: place cards, note cards, and address labels! The possibilities seem endless!

Here's what I learned about the Inscribe line after chatting with Kim... (Don’t forget to mention Ashley’s Bride Guide to receive 20% off your order!)

Why do you love the Inscribe invitation line for weddings?
I love the Inscribe line because it is customizable! With Inscribe, I am able to sit down with my customers and change the colors, fonts, etc. That is the process that I love! Once I make the updates, I can send them a proof and it can happen fairly quickly because it is done in-house.

Who is the Inscribe line for/What kind of bride?
The line is for that customer that is modern, edgy, but yet traditional, as well. It offers a wide variety of options.

What does the line offer?
If a bride chooses this line paper, we are not limited to the invitation! They can get address labels, placecards, notecards, candy bar wrappers, wraps for envelopes, stickers, envelope liners, photo cards, the list is endless!! It will all coordinate!

Why do brides love these invitations?
Brides love Inscribe because of the many options, especially the ability to change the colors with no additional fees. Most designers will charge a custom art-work fee to make any changes to original designs, which is fair.

What is the price range for the Inscribe line?
The price range for Inscribe starts at $1.55 for a 5x7 invitation. Very affordable!! The prices vary, based on what the bride desires. Since the work is completed in-house, shipping costs are saved, unless we have to order a specific item, more paper, etc.

Can the Inscribe line be used for bridal showers, bachelorette parties or save the dates?
This line can be used for any event. I absolutely love it!!! This is a line that must be viewed in person to see its uniqueness. It's great!

Subscription Boxes: Locally Made Gifts Your Bridesmaids Can Enjoy Long After Your Wedding

Thursday, February 26, 2015

Coming up with a bridesmaid gift that your girls will truly enjoy can prove to be a difficult task for a bride.  Kimberly Washington of East Nashville's paperKuts studio used inspiration from recently popular subscription boxes to make that task a little easier on a bride. Brides are able to help create a thoughtful, personalized gift for their wedding party to enjoy anywhere from one month to a year! These boxes are a great way to say thank you to the girls that stood by you leading up to your wedding day and stand by you on the most important day of your life.

We spoke with Kim to get all of the info that you need to know about this delightful gift idea:

Where did your inspiration for the subscription box come?

My inspiration came from all of the cool boxes that I see friends on Facebook & Instagram receiving.  I'm not inventing the wheel and saw other cool choices that included stationery.  From there, it was selecting the different types to offer.

What does a bridesmaid subscription box include?
The bridesmaid box can really include whatever the bride desires.  It will always include stationery, that's a given!!!  I always suggest giving my 'starter' paper box.  It includes personalized stationery and a personalized pen.  It is all one needs to start that handwritten note.

Are the boxes customizable?
Yes, the boxes are customizable.  That is really what I think is the best part.  I love taking clues from my customers and coming up with something unique and different.

Can the boxes be personalized?
Each paper box can be personalized to fit any situation.  One of the paper boxes is a lovely set of thank-you notes.  Another is geared towards our younger generation.  In the age of technology, that age group needs to learn now how to properly write a note.

What is the price for each box?
The basic price for a paper box is $27.95, but it truly depends on what the needs of the customer are.

What are the subscription options? 3 months, 6 months, a year?
The paper box subscription is one; three; six and twelve months.

How far in advance would a bride need to place the order?
To ensure that I am giving my customer the best, I would like at least 10 days for a custom box.  I can make it happen a lot sooner, just let me know!

To gift these boxes to your bridesmaids or to create custom Nashville welcome gifts for your VIP guests, contact paperKuts studio at 615.885.0231 or [email protected].
