Tuesday night, I was invited to the opening of Ambrose House. Austin (the sales director) and team were super and I was sooo glad to attend. The house was beautiful! The renovations to this historic home were very well done and even the toilet paper in the bathroom was high quality. Hey - that sort of stuff matters:). Because I tend to focus on "pretty pretty" while Hillary of Brocade Design Arts focuses on details, she gave me this recap via Yahoo IM this morning: Ashley King (11/12/2008 9:55:48 AM): how much was it? hillary robson (11/12/2008 9:56:02 AM): $1000 m-thurs for all day; $1500 on Fri/Sun, $2500 on Sat Austin (Sales Director) told me that the space can accommodate between 80 seated and around 120 for standing mingle. It would be an ideal venue for intimate, Nashville weddings, bridal showers or rehearsal dinner. Contact Austin (615) 228-7649 for more details on this great, new Nashville wedding venue. Below are the official pictures from the event provided by Evan Baines, who I finally got to meet!
(thats me in the gray chatting it up with Aaron Mayo of One Eleven and his wife, Betty Ashton Andrews, who is a harpist.)
I loved this room!
Oh yeah - the dessert was provided by French Confection and they served up a delicious bananas foster cake. It was yummy, yummy.

Hillary of Your Day of Fairy Tales just sent me this email, "Hey Girl! I just wanted to tell you about this new space I found while driving around in Lebanon the other day! It is called "The Event Loft." Really fun funky and hip! They have a website, but doesn't have pictures of the actual space! It is on South Hartmann Dr. in Lebanon. The website is www.theeventlofttn.com. Amber has been great to work with in planning a surprise birthday party! :)
Thought I would share it with you b/c this space looks super hot! Add this chic space to your wedding venue list. Thanks Hillary - you rock.:)

November is a happening month, especially if you are a Nashville bride who is shopping for a bridal gown or wedding accessories. Trunk shows are great ways to check out bridal collections and make purchases with special savings. Need a venue? I'll definitely be checking out the Ambrose House Open House next week. Here's a quick list of November events for Nashville brides.

Call or email soon ....we're booking up fast!!!!!
(PARIS cake jewelry)
November 22 - KY Lake Bridal and Prom Expo at the KY Dam Convention Center
Now, if you are a Nashville bride, this might be a drive BUT it might be worth it if you are looking for a great deal on your bridal gown. I drove to Arkansas to get a great deal on my wedding dress! And, unlike most bridal shows, Kari (the show producer) told me that "all wedding gowns and prom gowns will be available to try on and either order, place a down payment, or purchase and take home that day. We will also be having a huge bridal and prom sale with many wedding gowns marked half off or more and some as low as $99."
(Later this month, I'll be interviewing Kari to tell you all about this new bridal show. Check out the KY Lake Bridal and Prom Expo website for more info the meantime.)
(This is one of the dresses, by Mon Cheri, that will be marked down!)

A few weeks ago, a bride asked me for a suggestion for an engagement party venue in the Nashville area. I happened to be IMing (instant messenger for those unfamiliar) Latrice of Bridal Opulence and put the question to her. What are a few options for small parties, such as engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, etc? Latrice quickly spit out this list -- not sure how she knows these things:). Gotta love wedding planner friends in the bridal industry! (If you aren't familiar with Latrice, she is a wedding planner and owner of Bridal Opulence. She is a a super efficient wedding planner who is on my speed dial list.) The list includes some a mix of "southern comfort" and some "southern fancy" restaurants so that you have options:).
1) Hotel Preston Cafe Isabella / Pink Slip
Hotel Preston has two spaces - Cafe Isabella and Pink Slip. I like Pink Slip; what a cute name and an even cuter space - with a reasonable rental fee.
2) Monell's Dining and Catering
2 locations - either in Franklin or Nashville (Germantown area)

3) Yellow Porch in Nashville's Berry Hill
4) Ellendale's - my good friend Tiffany and Latrice love this place. I will say - it's a good spot - I am not in love w/the place. I will say I am in like. They have a brunch buffet which makes it easy breezy in terms of not having to order off the menu. But menu ordering is an option depending on the event, your preference. It's tucked away on Donelson Pike - very accessible to Nashville airport. And they have a great brunch menu.
5) Demo's in Hendersonville or downtown (update - downtown location doesn't have a private room - thanks Britt!)
6) Chappys on Church
7) Sambuca's
I believe I like ambiance here more than the food! Each room has a different vibe but all are spectacular. Plus, the downtown/Gulch location is central to every area of Nashville.
8) Sunset Gril
People love this restaurant. I have eaten there but it comes highly recommended.
9) The Acorn Restaurant - I personally do not care for Acorn's food BUT so many people do so I didn't want to exclude them based on my personal dislike. I will say they have great service and several contemporary rooms and spaces that would make great private party options.
10) Macke's Restaurant - I went here for my anniversary and it was a hidden gem - literally - you will never stumble across this place. It's tucked in Grace's plaza in Green Hills. At first I was leery b/c no one was but after an hour or so the tables started to fill. The food was really good. Very romantic spot.
11) F. Scotts - this is my hubby John's fave spot when we want to feel all elegant and grown up.
12) Mere Bulles - Great food! Diverse menu.
One additional - very different spot:
13) East Park Community Center
I am planning a baby shower and none of these spots would work because I was looking for a place that had 1) no room rental fee and 2) would allow outside food (aka shower on a budget). So, Hillary recommended East Park. One of her brides is having a rehearsal dinner there. I do not have pictures of the space but they have several rooms. The largest, the theater, accommodates up to 100 seated. The room has chocolate walls and really high ceilings. The location is easy to find and is in an up-and-coming, East Nashville area aka hip and happening.
Oh - and Barbara, the event manager is SOOO helpful and thorough. Really - her service has been better than traditional event spaces - go figure! But, it is still a community center so if you are looking for upscale - this isn't the place for you.
Some of these venues would also work for a rehearsal dinner location.

On Thursday, I had the pleasure of meeting Aaron Mayo and receiving a personal tour of One Eleven. One Eleven is considered "Nashville's premier rooftop event". It's right on 2nd and Broadway and has a great view of Nashville. The venue just opened in July so it's a hot new find! None of your friends have gotten married there and it's a blank canvas -- great for creative and modern brides. Aaron, the senior sales manager, was super cool and helpful. It was great to learn about One Eleven. In addition to it being one of few rooftop event spaces, they are super flexible - you choose the caterer, the rentals, etc. Here's info from their website:
Here are real pics that I took from the venue.
One of the interior spaces that could be used for the reception.
Same space as above but notice the glass room to the right; it's another space that works well for your band or dj.
View 1 from the rooftop
View 2 from the rooftop - love it!
Here are a few pics from a wedding reception at One Eleven. Just had to share these with you to give you an idea... Visit their website for photo credits.
Wouldn't this be a chic spot? Imagine the breeze!
Contact Aaron Mayo to learn more about One Eleven.
