Vendor Spotlight: Meet Selah Style and Events

Monday, March 24, 2008

Meet Kat of Selah Style and Events, a Nashville wedding planner. I would characterize Kat as the “ultimate design girl”. She makes everything super-fab.

How did you get started in weddings?

Photoshoots! I began working as a set and clothing stylist for a modeling agency in Texas. After a few of my bridal shoots were published in some local mags, brides would call and ask, who created that tablescape!? Not long after that I began doing event design and coordination!

What do you like most about weddings?

The Joy! Everyone involved is always happy; from the bride and groom to the vendors- everyone wants to share in the joy of such a wonderful occasion!

What’s your favorite wedding picture/video and why?

I love using branches! There are lots of branch options (Birch, Manzanita, etc.) and they give any centerpiece that extra touch of elegance.

I love the branches too! So, what is your service philosophy?

Treat every wedding like its my own…

What are your strengths compared to other wedding planners? Why should a bride hire you?

I take an out of the box approach to wedding planning. I look for interesting and unique characteristics about the couple to incorporate into their special day. Plus, I am a bridal stylist so I provide gown shopping services and can help brides find the perfect dress (for their body) and the dress style that would fit most of their bridesmaids.

Who are your 5 favorite wedding vendors?

Well first and foremost, you! You’re not exactly a wedding vendor, but the best resource any vendor could ask for, so that counts, right?!

Turning Point Videography - Not only are they super friendly, they film each wedding with 3 cameras standard… that’s a rarity in the videography industry. Not to mention they have a great package rate.

Designs in Paper - They really can do ANYTHING.

Chef’s Market - They have so many options and the all the food is DELISH!

Cozette Winters Photography - Her work is stunning.

Who do you recommend when you’re not available/not a fit?

A Magical Affair!

Well, thanks for the compliment:). What do you read/watch regularly to stay on top of wedding/event trends?

Everything! I subscribe to just about every magazine on the planet, I take inspiration from everything!

Let’s discuss wedding trends… Which trend do you love?

Green Weddings- There are hundreds of way to have a beautiful, romantic wedding thats also eco-friendly… Hopefully this trend will become a staple!

Advice for brides?

Be realistic about what you have time to tackle and don’t be afraid to enlist the help of others when you know you’ve hit your limit.

Oh - before you go, share a fabulous aspect of a wedding you are planning now.

One of my brides is has a large guest list that consists of 60+ kids. We are doing a special kids room with a Candyland theme. It will be really fun so I’ll share more details about the room later but for now, here’s the general inspiration board.
