I found Rachel Short Designs a few months ago and was delighted. She's a Nashville-based, event floral designer with a unique and refreshing style, which I can best describe as the "best of nature, made even more beautiful". It's natural and full of life. Check out Rachel Short's photo gallery and give her a call to discuss your wedding vision.

This week - I will feature a few great finds that aren't local BUT are great wedding finds. I have never bought anything from IDoOriginals.com but I am a big fan of their work and plan to make a purchase in the next few weeks. They are one my MySpace friends and quite honestly - I visited their site a long time ago and a lot has changed -- and since then, they have added lots of great new products. If you have ever ordered from IDo, please share your experience with me. Here are a few things I really like about IDo: 1) Easy, "no-think", creative Custom Wedding Monograms and motifs - range from $10-15 I love creative weddings BUT I sometimes don't like to think. Now, I know that there are crafty DIY brides out there who can run circles around me but for brides like me, this site is a no-brainer. I love this page of ready-made monograms, that make finding a great wedding monogram or motif easy, easy, easy.
They can also do custom monograms, which are still very affordable. 2) Custom Aisle Runners - range from $55-145
3) Custom Monogrammed Parasols How cute are these! Last week, Rhonda shared a Zen wedding with parasols that popped...so I am lovin' parasols. Here's another option - have them monogrammed.
If you decide to order, be sure to give yourself plenty of time because typical turnaround is 3-4 weeks. Let me know about your experience...before I place my order:).

I love wedding photography and photographers. They are the wedding pros that freeze our special moments, often making them look better than they were live (thanks to great editing techniques). So, I thought I would end the week by searching the sites of Nashville wedding photographers, pulling great shots from their sites (via quick scan), and sharing them with you - to give you a sampling of some of the best wedding photos of the week. (Disclaimer - I have pulled these great pics from my wedding friends so I don't think they will mind me sharing their pics with you.) Find your wedding style? Contact the photographer to learn more!

Today, Rhonda of Rhonda Patton Weddings shares a Zen themed wedding. So be a bit knowlegdable on the whole matter, so I wouldn't come off as a total novice, I did some real, in-depth research on Zen (aka consulted wikipedia - my fave resource for random stuff).

Here's what I learned. According to the wikipedia entry on Zen:
The origins of Zen Buddhism are ascribed to the Flower Sermon, the earliest source for which comes from the 14th century.[3] It is said that Gautama Buddha gathered his disciples one day for a dharma talk. When they gathered together, the Buddha was completely silent and some speculated that perhaps the Buddha was tired or ill. The Buddha silently held up a flower and several of his disciples tried to interpret what this meant, though none of them were correct. One of the Buddha's disciples, Mahakasyapa, silently gazed at the flower and is said to have gained a special insight directly from the Buddha's mind, beyond words. Mahakasyapa somehow understood the true inexpressible meaning of the flower...
Wow, wow, wow! Wonder if Rhonda knew all of this? (I am sure she did:). I think it's interesting that Zen centers around the indescribable nature of a flower...which is Rhonda's specialty. She gets flowers, in all of their indescribability:) She has a gift for using florals to bring to create the ambiance a bride desires for her special day.
With that Zen 101 intro, enjoy this memorable Zen wedding. I really love the altar picture with the lanterns! This bride/mom team had vision.
Guest Post: Rhonda Patton Weddings is a Nashville-based, event floral designer.
I met with Tisha and her mother back in August of 2007 and they booked me immediately. Tisha, an interior design enthusiast had a modern zen inspiration for her wedding.
Tisha's wedding was not your typical fall wedding. No pumpkins, no leaves or fancy fall foliage. Instead, she envisioned a contemporary twist to a minamalist zen motif. The color palette combined slate grey and accents of bold jewel tones.

Modern Zen is peace, simple and tranquil; perhaps a link with nature, for some it might conjure up images of a minimalist Japanese style. For others, it may excude an exotic but elegant design. In this case, I simply reinvented modern zen with vibrant colors infused with tropical flowers and decor. Here's a quick snap shot! Photo credits: Hamlett Photography
The bride's modern zen inspired bouquet was comprised of dahlias, callas, ginger, kangaroo paw, oncidium orchids and ginger leaves.

Mike of Myrick has done it again. Hillary of Brocade Design Arts said that I lean towards a certain photography style. Ha...I do! I love modern, contemporary, fresh and vibrant wedding photography. That doesn't mean I don't have an appreciation for stunning, timeless and styles - like this wedding by Gina Bilyeu, which I think is classic.
Then, there is the old-school, traditional and posed look that parents tend to prefer. There are all types. And, I am far from an expert on photography BUT I do know that YOU should know your preference so that you know which photographer to hire. So...if you like modern too - check out this post:) Guest Blogger: Myrick Studios is a Nashville-based, wedding photographer. I had the pleasure of meeting Jill & Jared this summer to chat about details. From the first time that we met, I knew right away that these guys were going to have a beautiful wedding. These guys are such a sweet couple and such a joy to shoot. They got married at the Historic Carnton Plantation in Franklin, TN.
This wedding was a little different in the fact that I actually had ALOT of time with Jill & Jared before they had to be at the reception! They actually let their guests tour the Carnton Plantation and after the tour the guests all headed out to The Old Natchez Country Club for the reception. These shots below are some of my favorite not only because of the SWEET 1959 Jaguar but also because you could feel the love from these guys.. They were now MARRIED!!
Instead of the traditional bride & groom's cake, these guys had a huge cupcake table! It was not only beautiful but OH so good! (just one of the many perks of my job tastin' the fine desserts!)
Visit Myrick Studios blog for more crisp and stunning photos from this awesome, Nashville wedding.
