Better Nashville Interview: 3 Ways to Save + Splurge on Your Wedding
Monday, January 24, 2011
Last week, the lovely folks at Better Nashville asked me to share tips for maximizing your wedding budget and 2011 wedding trends. You can see the entire interview via this link if you missed it.
Since then, many of you have raved over some of the items that appeared on that segment and wanted to know more about the featured items. So, here's info on what I shared and additional info that did not make the segment.
Ways to Save on Your Wedding:
1) Hire a Wedding Planner - a great planner will help you make smart financial decisions, hire better vendors for your style/budget, hire reliable vendors (so you dont lose money and have to rehire). Some planners, like Regalo Design can even help you save money by allowing you to access their wholesale floral discount or helping you with DIY projects that will save material and stress.

2) Determine Splurge vs Save Items Early On - whether your wedding budget is $5k or $65k, you can't have it all but you can have what you love. Determine what you love early on and allocate the money for those items. For some, it's amazing florals, others it's a dream designer gown. For newlyweds Krista (of Becoming Mrs. Dial) and Phillip who stuck to a $5k budget, those splurge items were a vintage bouquet ($360) and a designer suit ($1100). This couple spent 30% of their budget on these two items BUT it's what they valued and the items can be enjoyed long after the wedding.

Krista's bouquet - she collected the brooches from friends all over the country. The, she worked with Fantasy Floral Designs to design her bouquet. She also had bouquets created for all of her bridesmaids.

3) Research and Find Nashville Wedding Deals + Savings
- AshleysBrideGuide.com is the only resource that has a list of specials for Nashville weddings. We also have started a list of specials and contests (to help you save) on our Facebook fan page. Don't hire until you've checked our list of wedding specials.
- There are tens of Nashville bridal shows and bridal events over the next few months. At almost any bridal event, you will find wedding specialists offering special incentives if you hire them. Take advantage of those deals!
