From Breast Cancer to Sick Brides, Let’s Help Our Nashville Bridal Community

Friday, May 6, 2011

Join us and the Nashville wedding community as we gear up to help others via two awesome charitable events to benefit health-stricken brides/grooms and one fellow bridal professional. The events are open to ANYONE with a heart to help.  And you can do a little, like spreading the word via Facebook or your blog, or a lot, like donating your time or money.  Any and everything helps.

Wish Upon a Wedding Nashville Launch Party - Granting Worry-free Weddings to Brides/Grooms with Life Threatening Conditions

Date: May 18
Location: Wedding 101, The Factory in Franklin
Event Goal: Learn about organization,  donate or sign up to volunteer your time, resources

Wish Upon A Wedding is the world's first wish granting organization that grants weddings and civil union ceremonies to couples facing life-threatening medical conditions. Bridal blogger Krista Dial who is on the Nashville board for Wish Upon a Wedding extended the invite our way to this free event. Because of our very active and very capable wedding community, as well as access to some of the country's best healthcare organizations, Wish Upon A Wedding has begun its Nashville chapter and we hope to show our support starting with this launch party.

I asked Krista what WUW's presence in Nashville means for our city, "If there is a couple who desperately wants to get married, but due to serious illness or life-altering circumstances, they cannot, we want to come together as professionals in the wedding/event service and healthcare industry, put our talents together as a community to help those couples have their dream weddings." What is really encouraging is that the feedback Krista has received just by talking to people about the organization has been very positive - everyone knows someone who has either overcome and survived or been the victim of a terminal illness or disease. Whether you're a bride, a planner, a baker or a photographer, there is a way for us all to help and this Launch Party on May 18th is a great way to meet like-minded, good-hearted people like yourselves.

Everyone is welcome to join the party, and it's free, just R.S.V.P. at EventBrite.com. Even if you aren't able to attend, please do help spread the word. For more details check out Wish Upon A Wedding Nashville's Facebook Page.

Pretty in Pink Prom - Raising Medical Funds for Taira of Baughman Media Works / Breast Cancer Survivor

Date: July 8
Location: Embassy Suites Nashville Airport

Event Goal: Party with the purpose of raising money for medical expenses

Every year the Pretty In Pink Prom (an 80's themed dance party) elects a Prom Queen for the year and holds a dance in her honor. This year's Prom Queen is Taira Baughman. Taira is not your ordinary Prom Queen - she is a wife and mother of four and a year ago, she was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

The Pretty In Pink Prom sounds like it's going to be a really fun night for a fantastic cause - all proceeds will help the Baughman family pay the expensive medical bills they incur to fight Taira's life threatening illness. Currently, Taira is recovering from a series of surgeries to save her life and the medical bills continue to grow larger.

Visit the Pretty In Pink Prom website to listen to Taira's story, to purchase your tickets to the prom on July 8th or to make a donation. Tickets are $45 for party, food, a chocolate bar, refreshments, great live music, a night of dancing in 80's themed garb (who doesn't love that??) and at the end of it all, you get to help a family who truly needs it.

They are also accepting party donations from wedding pros willing to donate their expertise/goods.

We hope you'll be able to attend and even if you can't, PLEASE help us spread the word! Tell your family, your friends, tweet it, share it in your status on Facebook, post it in your blog - sharing this information is free and takes just a few seconds. Thanks so much, and have a great weekend!
