How did you get started in weddings?
My lovely fiance, Hillary of Brocade, was a wedding planner before becoming an amazing floral designer. She wanted images from the weddings she was coordinating and knew I had a digital SLR. I took a couple of pictures for her and she loved them. After shooting my first wedding, I knew this was something I truly loved! What other job are you invited to share in a couple’s big day with their closest family and friends and are in charge of documenting all the intricate details and emotions on that special day?

What do you like most about weddings?
There are numerous things I love about weddings, but if I had to pick one it would be the cake! I freaking love wedding cake. :)

What’s your favorite wedding pic/video and why? Why?
The look on Lissa’s dad’s face is one of a father letting his little girl go after watching her grow into a woman he is truly proud of. At the same time, Lissa is gazing forward toward her husband to be, David, and can see nothing else. It’s a moment that is both powerful and meaningful. I adore the touching expressions and emotions on their faces.

What is your service philosophy?
Kind of cheesy, but the golden rule rings true - treat others the way that you would want to be treated. It’s a simple philosophy that allows me to connect with my clients. An honest connection between my couples and I is integral in making the best images possible. A mutual respect blossoms from this friendship which breaks down barriers of nervousness or timidness and allows their love and emotion to come through in the pictures.

What are your strengths compared to others in your category? / Why should a bride hire you?
I think my strengths are my personality and good sense of humor. I feel I am good- natured, light hearted, and like to build a natural rapport with my couples, hopefully forging a bond of friendship.

Who are your 5 favorite Nashville wedding vendors – helpfulness, professionalism, style?
There are so many! Kristin Kaplan with Simply Stunning Events definitely makes the list. Kristin + wedding = stress-free for the bride and vendors. Blake and the team at Nashville Event Lighting will turn a pretty-ok venue into an amazing, picturesque wonderland of awesome-sauce and all with only using light. Rita with Down South Delights never disappoints in the food department. Her staff is professional and efficient, plus the food is muy delectable. If you need a band and heart the 80s, look no further than Bueller. Once they start playing, all you see is empty chairs. You just cant help but dance and have a great time. Last but not least, Hillary with Brocade Designs. She never disappoints and constantly goes above and beyond to make her brides smile ear to ear. The depth of her creativity is limitless and it shows with her ridiculously gorgeous floral creations.

What do you read/watch regularly to stay on top of wedding/event trends?
I check all the biggie blogs such as ABG, Style Me Pretty, Wedding Chicks, and Elizabeth Ann Designs. Since I am currently go through the wedding planning process, I am subjected to Say Yes to the Dress and Who’s Wedding is it Anyway on a regular basis.

What are your favorite wedding websites? / Neatest wedding find?
My new HUGE one is pinterest.com. You can search wedding and find brides and wedding vendors who are currently making virtual inspiration boards. It’s my newest and by far favorite find.

For "budget savvy" brides, what's the one thing you think should always make it into a budget
I love prints - whether they be in the form of 8x10s, canvas prints, or albums. There is just something about rummaging through an old shoe box full of pictures or flipping through a 30 year old album. Memories are instantly recalled and emotions are stirred up. For this reason, one thing I try to stress to all brides is budget for an album of your wedding pictures. It is your first family heirloom that will be both timeless and priceless. You will never regret it.

What advice would you give to brides on the wedding planning process in general?
Breathe. I have witnessed first hand how stressful the wedding planning process can be.

I actually have a word of wisdom for the grooms: Listen and be involved. I know it isn’t the lastest Call of Duty or the play-offs (every sport applies) but just listening to your bride-to-be’s ideas/opinions and voicing some of your own will make the process that much easier - for both of you.

Blogging is something I’ve enjoyed doing for years. My interests lie mostly in lifestyle related topics like fashion, style, design, food and weddings. When I heard Ashley was looking to bring on new members to the ABG team, I jumped at the opportunity - I can’t think of a better way to stay involved in weddings than to write about them and to stay in touch with the trends and new ideas. Lucky for me, Ashley likes my blog and trusts my experience to bring me on and so far, it’s been a blast.
