The Elliott Events Design Challenge: Two Bride Styles - No Flowers for Brandi, Big Bling for Leah

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

When it comes to wedding design, there are two schools of thought - go with a designer whose design aesthetics are similar to your own or go with a designer who can create something beautiful for any bride's style. There really is no right or wrong approach but there are a few things to consider.  First, make sure you like working with any vendor you hire - that they get you, respect your wishes.  Second, make sure any person you is comptent and can do what they say they can do, especially if they say they can deliver different wedding styles than their own.

Take Tiffanie and her crew at Elliott Events.  Elliott Events is a one-stop wedding planning company that offers wedding planning, florals and event design.  Tiffanie designs and does the florals for her brides.  She doesnt hire an outside designer or florist.  She is also a designer that takes pride in designing for any bride's wedding styles.

I thought I would put Tiffanie to the test.  I hear a lot of wedding designers "say" they can design for a diversity of brides.  Yet when I look at their portfolio, I see weddings that mostly cater to the same bride with different colors.  I asked Tiffanie to share some of her wedding creations so that I could see for myself how she designs unique looks for her brides, based on THEIR personality and not hers.

Leah & Charles at Ruby
Their Wedding Design: Feminine Florals with Bridal Bling

Ruby is a city chic Nashville venue that fit Leah and Charles design profile.  Leah loved all things big with touches of bling!  Her style just happens to be similar to Tiffanie's of Elliott Event.  This wedding was a breeze for Tiffanie but she made sure to still stamp the event with Leah's personal style.  In addition to gorgeous, oversized florals for centerpieces, Tiffanie and her team wrapped vases, added crystals, brooches and feathers to complete the look.

Brandi & Stephen at Cedars of Lebanon
Their Wedding Design: Few Flowers, More Couple's Favs

Cedars of Lebanon is a state park that is loved but requires a complete transformation.  Many of their brides hire Elliott Event to drape and decorate the space, as did Brandi.

Unlike Leah, Brandi wanted few flowers.  She was ok with them in her bouquets but didn't want them at her reception.  However, she and Stephen were open to just about anything else.  They love books and wine so Elliott Events combined the two to create their signature reception design. The wedding style will not work for everyone but it fit them perfectly.  Their look is a great example for brides who dont like flowers.  It can be lovely and beautiful with the right wedding designer.

Notice how different Brandi and Leah's weddings are?  Leah's fits Tiffanie's personal style but she was able to create Brandi's design, which is 180 degrees away from Leah's.  If you hire a deisgner whose style is different than yours, make sure they can show you they can truly deliver a vastly different look, as Tiffanie has.
