Custom Bridesmaid Dresses for a Nashville Bride’s Florida Destination Wedding
Tuesday, July 10, 2012
Joy and Bobby, who reside in Nashville, were married in August and they opted for a Florida destination wedding. They hired Florida vendors for their beach wedding but chose Nashville-based, Kerried Away Couture, to custom design bridesmaids dresses.
To help those of you who might also be considering a destination wedding, I reached out to Kerri to learn more about Joy's beach-style dresses and how ordering dresses for a remote location works.
Bride's vision for her bridesmaids
Joy was a laid back, organized bride with pretty clear vision of what she wanted for her wedding, a full year before her date. She started with 10 pictures on her inspiration board and according to Kerri, her actual wedding looked a lot like her inspiration photos - from the color palette to the altar design. She knew what she wanted. For her bridesmaids, she visited Kerried Away, looked at swatches and then went home to sleep on the colors. She considered coral but then decided to go with spearmint because it resembled the Florida water. Spearmint is a very unique color and is becoming more popular. According to Kerri, you have to have a certain location for the color - because it is very light and airy, it is the perfect color for the beach.
Joy also liked two top styles - one with one shoulder, the other strapless, and one pencil-skirt style. This allowed the bridesmaids to have some freedom in choosing the top that worked best for them.
Dressing bridesmaids in different cities
One of Joy's bridesmaids lives in Nashville, the other four live in other cities. To accommodate, the distant bridesmaids sent in their measurements and their dresses were shipped to them individually, as was their preference. The local bridesmaid got measured and did her fitting with Kerried Away.

The final look for the day
Joy's bridesmaids went barefoot and wore their custom Kerried Away dresses on the wedding day. Joy took remnants from the Kerried Away dress fabric and made sashes for her flower girls and made bloomers for the youngest flower girl. (Note: Kerried Away is always willing to give dress remnants to her brides. One bride used for table arrangements to bring the color into the wedding.)
Joy also had two attendants who wore coral dresses, mixing in a different, vibrant color. (Note: The coral dresses were not by Kerried Away Couture.)
If you are having a Nashville wedding or destination wedding, contact Kerried Away Couture to see the many options for custom dresses, designed to fit any size girl, in a myriad of color palettes.
