Edible Art: Sculptured Grooms Cakes That Look Too Real To Eat
Wednesday, April 23, 2014
Some of the world’s greatest creations were born out of what most would call impossible ideas. Vicki Nelson, owner and lead designer at Signature Cakes by Vicki, realizes this and that’s why she will do almost anything to help a groom’s vision for his cake come to life.
The groom’s cake might be the only opportunity he has to express himself at his wedding. It serves as a reflection of his personality, hobbies and favorite things, and if he cares enough to dream big about this cake, then it has to be done right. It’s a pretty tall order to fill, of course, but with Vicki’s experience, the groom is in good hands.
Vicki shared this fun story with us: A groom requested she make a cake that looked like a case of beer and a beer pong game. The cake looked so real, in fact, that the bartender at the venue asked her to take the “case of beer” into the back where all the other alcoholic beverages were being held!
Some of our favorite grooms cakes, made by Signature Cakes By Vicki, certainly make us want to have our cake and eat it too:
Beagle
Chicago Cubs and Yuengling Lager
Chevy truck
Crab on beach
Star Wars
