Music & Matrimony at the Schermerhorn Spring Soiree!
Monday, April 19, 2010
Last month, Ashley asked me to attend Spring Soireee at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center (in downtown Nashville) since she couldnt go.
Walking up the stone steps to One Symphony Place was a little intimidating! The massivie structure is unlike anything else we have to offer in the heart of downtown. It seems like it belongs on the same block as a European palace and not around the corner from Tootsies:).
But isn't that so Nashville? It represents the world of music and art and culture colliding in one incredible city, and that was just what I felt on the front steps.

When I walked in the huge doors of the Main Lobby, I was greeted with a smiling guitarist from Craig Duncan Music and Entertainment, strumming a mixture of radio tunes and classical music, a tray of delectable goodies from the Schermerhorn's in house caterer and a friendly bartender offering "Red, White or Champagne?" (Not a bad day at work huh?)

The Main Lobby can be used for a greeting lobby area, a cocktail area, or even can be used for your ceremony.

From the Main Lobby, I entered the Laura Turner Concert Hall where I literally had to stop and just stare at the breathtaking set up! I'll let the slideshow images speak for themselves.

As you can see, there were all levels of seating spread throughout the main Hall. Bistro tables with barstool chairs, beautiful tablescapes and cocktail lounges filled the area that normally holds the seats of the Symphony audience. The floor is retractable and allows for this space to serve both serving and seating purposes!
More Craig Duncan musicians played jazz music from the platform where the Grammy award winning Nashville Symphony takes the stage for each performance. Between the sights, the sounds, the food, the drinks - it was truly a sensory delight.

Just when I thought that I had seen it all, I prepared to wrap up my tour, go home and blog about the incredible set up, I happened to meet an extremely helpful young lady named Ashley (not ABG of Ashley but another helpful Ashley who is an employee at Schermerhorn). She showed me even more rooms that could be used for all sorts of bridal party events - from showers, to dinners to small parties.

Schermerhorn is an incredible gift to the Nashville music and cultural community. It symbolizes that all music and all people are welcome here in this town. It is a place that represents harmony, international appreciation for great music and love of art, a blending of so many people and places. It was an idea born out of love for a woman to her lifelong partner; that is a perfect setting for a Nashville wedding!

Speaking of Nashville weddings... as I walked across the street to my car, I realized an old man was standing on the corner singing Johnny Cash songs about the love he had for his woman. What a perfect ending for my day, that experience and this blog =).
Special thanks to Lori at the Schermerhorn for inviting ABG to their Spring Soiree! The event sponsors were: Big Events Weddings + Big Events + Connie Duglin Linens + Craig Duncan + Lipman + Martin O’Connor Photography + Music City Tents & Events + PMC + Visual Elements
