Part 1: Felicia + Tyler’s Wedding - Mom Shares Details on Their Delicious, Sunday, Dessert Reception
Thursday, September 13, 2012
Felicia's mom, Laurie, is a wedding designer and planner for Randi Events and Nashville Event Space, which manages Cellar One. When we spoke earlier this year, she told me all about the plans for Felicia's wedding, a casual Sunday reception, with tasty desserts and appetizers. I couldn't wait for Felicia to get married so I could share all of the unique details with you!
Felicia will provide full details on her wedding day tomorrow, but today, I'm speaking with her mom, Laurie, to get the scoop on Felicia's sweet, dessert reception, catered by one of our faves, Chef’s Market.

What was her food and drink menu?
Beer, wine, coffee bar with cordials
Strawberries stuffed with chevre and pine nuts
Edible green tea cones with wild rice orzo
Hot chicken salad in tortilla cups

What should a couple consider if they are thinking of having a dessert reception?
This typically will be a shorter reception to allow time for people to go to dinner.
What is an ideal time for a dessert reception?
2-5pm or 3-6pm. Felicia's started at 3pm.
What are the advantages of a Sunday event?
Venues typically offer a lower rate on Sunday afternoon
At Cellar One, does a Sunday event offer a savings for the couple?
Yes the Sunday rental is typically discounted by $500-$750.

More from mom...
As a single mom raising Felicia, I never really thought about her wedding day. I worked many years in restaurants to put food on the table and a roof over her head. I never dreamed that when it was her time to marry I would be a Wedding Designer and Planner myself! What a blessing and privilege it is to get to design and plan your daughter’s wedding. It was easy as the MOB to plan and design her wedding because the most important part of being a being an designer is to be able to design a wedding that looks like the bride and bringing all the elements together that will create a wedding of her dreams.
I love weddings and to be able to give Felicia the wedding that best fit her, and watch her marry a man that truly loves and cherishes her, was the happiest day of my life thus far with the exception of the day she was born.
I want to thank the vendors that I have a privilege to work with daily who helped make this day perfect!
~ Jim Hagy and Ellen Camacho of Chef’s Market
~ Chris Jackson and Hannah of Nashville Audio Visual who did the draping and lighting
~ Grant Baker and Flick of Music City Tents and Events
~ Jennifer Byler and Jeff Duglin of Connie Duglin linen
~ Mike Witter of Branches for the beautiful flowers
I love working with these people on a daily basis and it was wonderful to have them work on Felicia’s wedding.
