Charitable Nashville Wedding Pros: Supporting Those That Support Others

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Last week, Glitz Bridal gave away free gowns to military families. It's something they do everywhere and is such a great gift for military couples. There are several other wedding professionals that are charitable and I'm happy to share their incredible efforts with you. Whether you are getting married or are a wedding pro, your event or business can help others - directly or indirectly.

Catalyst Weddings & Events - Help for Charitable Couples

Danielle Loeffler of Catalyst Weddings & Events is a dear friend of the ABG family. Not only is she a great person, but she's a wedding planner whose mission is to merge celebrations with charity. She helps Nashville couples plan their wedding while also helping them devise ways to use their wedding to make a difference.

Their website says it best: "The 'Why' behind Catalyst is this: we have amazing weddings, fantastic parties, and people that are in need of great help, why not combine the two?! The foundation of Catalyst was built after an experience with Soles 4 Souls and seeing the tremendous need with an ongoing opportunity to help. A wedding is a beautiful, God-designed event that we plan, spend, and celebrate all in one day. After the wedding we have great memories, amazing pictures, and timeless videography, but what if we could do more?

Catalyst Weddings & Events provides unlimited ways to give back creatively through every process of your big event. Say “I do” to being the change and making your wedding a life-changing experience that you, your guests, and all the lives impacted will always remember!"

If you'd like to learn ways to make your day charitable, contact Danielle. Or, if you are seeking a committed planner who just happens to be philanthrophic, Catalyst might be the planning company for you.

Chris and Adrienne Scott Photographers - Free Sessions for Engaged Military Couples

In business for 5 years, Chris and Adrienne Scott specialize in modern wedding photography, contemporary family portraiture, swanky boudoir photography, and high school senior photos.

They first began their charitable efforts with an organization called, Operation Love Reunited, which helps military families through free photography sessions. Both being Navy brats, they could relate to the missed memories of family members serving and they wanted to do something that aided them. They worked with Operation Love for a few years and then decided to offer more flexibility to military couples, via complimentary engagement and bridal sessions.

For the Scotts, working with military couples brings them joy because they know they are helping in a small way. They encourage couples, or wedding pros seeking charitable wedding efforts, to find a cause that's dear to them and do something to support it. "Everyone can do something."

Kristen Steele - Free Photos for Military Families and Support for Needy Kids

Kristen Steele Photography is a Nashville-area wedding and lifestyle photography studio. For Kristen, "giving back is a huge honor... I have many different opportunities to give back throughout the year: donating my time and services to organizations like Mocha Club, the Fairygodmother Project of Music City, and Portraits of Love."

Every Fall, Kristen Steele Photography donates time to Portraits of Love, a volunteer effort aimed at sending family portraits to soldiers around the globe during the holiday season. This is the third year in a row that Kristen has donated her time and services to this incredible program. Designed to help bring a piece of home to soldiers around the world, the project is utilizing the talents of over 150 volunteer photographers across the country who are opening their studios, to offer free family portraits to military family members who have a soldier deployed overseas. The portraits are uploaded to a website and a print is sent, free of charge, directly to the soldier in Iraq, Afghanistan, or wherever they are deployed around the world. The goal of the project is to send 10,000 free family portraits. Kristen Steele Photography is proud to have volunteered in this program.

"Donating my time to Portraits of Love is Kristen Steele Photography's way of giving back to our soldiers, and thanking them for the sacrifices they have made for our country." Through Portraits of Love, Kristen has donated her services to more than a dozen military families and hopes to double that amount. The story that keeps her committed was when she photographed a 6 month old little boy - she "loved that their Dad got to see pictures of their growing boy!"

Giving back is at the heart of the mission of Kristen Steele Photography. Not only does Kristen donate of her time and services, but a part of her business' proceeds go to sponsor two Compassion International children - another organization that is near and dear to her heart. "I have been tremendously blessed and hope that I can be a blessing to others. I'm always looking for other ways to give back," says Kristen.

"Thinking about the selfless service of our military men and women is very inspiring to me. Knowing that I have a part, even if it's a tiny one, to helping make their deployment a little brighter makes me feel so proud. Being able to show our soldiers their loved ones smiling faces and gift them a print of them is the best gift they could receive while they are overseas."

We can all make a difference. If you are considering a charitable cause for your wedding or business, Kristen suggest that you "take the time out of your busy schedule to give back regularly. It is such an incredible way to shift your focus on what really counts: those who are closest to us, like our families. Making a difference in the lives of others — even if it's just one family along the way — helps me to gain perspective and only fuels my fire to want to help more people."
