Today's guest blog is presented by Laurie Capper. She's a delight, and after serving as our intern and helping Nashville brides plan their dream wedding, she now helps them find their dream home as a realtor with Parkside Realty.
Weddings are a beautiful and joyous occasion, one that many of us dream about at a very young age. But what happens after the fairy tale day? Where will you and your new husband call home after the wedding festivities are over?
Where you will spend your Forever After is something to consider from the moment you announce your engagement.
Will you continue to live with parents so that you can save money? Will you rent an apartment, townhouse, or home? Will you purchase your first new home together? Or do you already have existing property and are looking to consolidate two places into one?
All of these questions can be answered by evaluating your Forever After goals. What are Forever After goals? They're the BIG conversations that engaged couples use to evaluate whether or not they want the same things in life - for example: Do we want to have children? If so, how many and how soon? Do we want to stay in Middle Tennessee? What area? Do either of us have a profession that might require us to move?
After you've completed this evaluation and have a firm grasp on where you both want to call home, the next step is to take action! If you are looking to rent a home, purchase a new home, or consolidate existing properties, you'll want someone to help you in this endeavor. A realtor is educated and groomed to not only assist you in your search for a new home or your consolidation of existing properties, but also to represent you and your best interests during any real estate transaction. A realtor will ask you about your Forever After goals because he or she will want to make sure that they are finding the BEST property to fit your new family's needs.
Once you've decided to contact a realtor, make sure to interview several. You'll want to find the RIGHT person to represent you and help you achieve your Forever After goals.
Make sure to ask lots of questions and be prepared to answer a lot. Planning your Forever After takes a lot of consideration and communication (just like planning your wedding!), and you'll want to make sure all parties involved (you, your husband, and your realtor) are on the same page.
Remember to take one step at a time and keep your end goal in focus. Hunting for and deciding on the right place to call home can be a little overwhelming at times, but once you find that perfect fit - it's worth it.
When you’re ready to take the next step in achieving your Forever After goals and finding the right place to call home, call a realtor for help. If you happen to be local to Nashville, I would love to get to know you, talk about your goals, and walk you through the process of home renting/buying or consolidation of your properties.

When my best friend and I decided to get away for some rest and relaxation, Carlie of 2 Travel Anywhere was my first thought. She's the go-to-pro for Nashville honeymoons, so I just knew she was the perfect person to help us plan our getaway.
We gave her our budget, dates, and our must-haves: luxury, beach destination, short flight, all-inclusivie, and adult only. She made a few recommendations, and we decided on Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, only an hour's drive from Cancún, Mexico. The resort was brand new at only 5 weeks old when we arrived.
If you are looking for a honeymoon destination, you'll want to read my review below. And, while Carlie specializes in honeymoon planning, she also plans all sorts of vacations, such as girls' getaways like ours. She did an excellent job!
Here's a quick review of our resort. It may be the right getaway for your honeymoon!
Transportation - Carlie coordinated our transportation to and from the airport, which was provided by Olympus. Their service was outstanding! They were courteous, spoke English, and were very prepared. They were waiting when we arrived to provide a beverage and a cool towel. On our departure, they contacted us in advance and were very flexible with our special requests. Please note that they did pick up a few guests from other hotels but it remained comfortable in their large vehicle and they stayed right on schedule.
Service - From arrival to departure, we never saw a frown. Every member of the staff smiled and greeted us at every opportunity. This is one happy place! However, there was a hiccup with our room. We upgraded to the Preferred Club and our Preferred Room was not available upon check-in. They offered us a regular room for the night and a free massage. We agreed and fell in love with the regular room. The Preferred Room was not as clean, and, while it was closer to the beach, the view was not as great. We asked to be moved back to the regular room, which was spotless and provided a panoramic view of the resort.
The spa was not yet ready, given the newness of the resort, but they provided a massage service in converted guest rooms. While the spa amenities were obviously not available (i.e. sauna, etc), the room was really nice and the massage was superb! Again, this resort's service is stellar.
Room/Resort - The room's decor was modern, yet indicative of the local culture, with bright hues and patterns. As mentioned before, our room was sparkling, as if we were the first guests ever in the room. (Kudos to the cleaning team in our building.)
The resort had countless nooks for resting, reading, and relaxing. There were swings, ottomans, benches, and lounge chairs. It also had mosquitoes everywhere! We heard that this resort had many more than other Secret resorts or even resorts in the area. Even with bug spray, we were eaten alive! No matter the bites, it's still a great destination.
Would I recommend the Preferred Club? It wasn't worth it to us. It included access to a different bar and a different breakfast option. It also promised a better view, which was not always better. It really depended on the floor and building.
Food - The resort was all-inclusive, so the food and alcohol were included in the room rate. Of all of the aspects that we loved about the resort, the food and drinks were not among them. There were 6-7 restaurants and the food was mediocre at all but one, the hibachi restaurant, which was surprisingly the best hibachi I've experienced! But therein was the constant theme - inconsistency. Sometimes the drinks were great, other times the same drinks tasted completely different.
Beach - The beach area is very well maintained. The resorts along the strip work really hard to remove seaweed as much as they can each morning. The beach was peaceful, and the weather was perfect every single day.
While the bugs and the food left much to be desired, I'd certainly recommend the resort. And, if this resort isn't right for you, contact Carlie at 615-512-7764 or by visiting 2travelanywhere.com. She'll help you find the perfect place given your preferences.
Thanks Carlie!

Planning your honeymoon
Was the honeymoon a surprise? Did one of you plan it, or did you plan it together?
We planned it together months prior.
What was your vision for your honeymoon - relaxation, romance, adventure, sight seeing, other?
Definitely relaxation! We did not leave the beach except for a one-day excursion that included snorkeling, feeding and petting wild pigs, feeding iguanas, and a hike.

Did you always agree on your honeymoon vision?
Absolutely. We both wanted to be by the beach.
How did you choose/plan your honeymoon location, activities?
We had a phone consult with 2 Travel Anywhere and told her what we were looking for. It was her suggestions that helped our decision.
How did you learn about 2 Travel Anywhere?
I found her on Facebook.
Did you consider planning your honeymoon without a travel service? Why did you choose to work with Carlie?
I tried looking for places to go, and I was so overwhelmed. Carlie made the planning process so easy!

Your honeymoon
What were some of your activities?
The only other activity we did beyond the one-day excursion was sailing on the Hobie Cat.
What was the best part about your honeymoon?
The food was amazing!! And honestly the best customer service!

Recommendations
Would you recommend this island, city, location? Why?
Absolutely! The resort was so clean, the staff was so polite, the food was amazing, and the beach wasn't too busy, which made for a relaxing trip!

One of our favorite aspects of wedding planning is honeymoon planning! Carlie of 2 Travel Anywhere is Nashville's go-to honeymoon planner. While she can help you plan a honeymoon of your dreams (or the trip of a lifetime) anywhere in the world, she specializes in Sandals resorts.
For our resort of the month, we reached out to Carlie to learn more about Sandals LaSource Grenada. Here's what she had to say:
Tell us a little bit about the island where the resort is located.
The resort is located in Grenada, which is also known as the Island of Spice for its cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. Grenada is most sought after for spices, the pristine beaches, and beautiful landscape. This island offers a rainforest, a 13-acre crater lake, cascading cliffs, and hot springs. Grenada is a volcanic island gifted with beaches of both black and white sands and surrounded by water as blue as lapis. Located in the southeastern Caribbean, north of Trinidad and Venezuela, the tri-island state of Grenada is made up of three islands in an archipelago known as the Grenadines, with Grenada being the largest.
What do you love about this resort?
The privacy. And if you love steak, Butch's Steakhouse is a must. Also, be sure to consider the Skypool Suite. If the room below is not in your budget, no worries! The trendsetting at this resort offers unique, modern accommodations for every room. No other resort in the Caribbean has suites as intriguing as the ones found here.
The suite above is the Skypool penthouse, which has an infinity pool that appears to be suspended from the sky.
What are your recommendations if a couple is considering this resort?
We suggest an upgrade to the Butler Level. At check-in, your butler greets you to attend to your every wish. A cell phone is provided at check in to call your butler for anything your heart desires. You want your bags unpacked or packed when ready to go home? Your butler will do that for you. The Friday night beach party was fabulous and included local foods and dancers. Do you scuba dive? Grenada tenders Sculpture Park, the world’s first underwater sculpture gallery that illustrates the island’s colorful culture and folklore.
What type of couple would love this resort?
Couples who want to relax. There are three unique villages at this resort, and each offers its own distinctive ambiance. Pink Gin Beachfront Village offers an infinity edge swimming pool located along the pristine shores of one of the island's best beaches. Cascading waterfalls are offset by dramatic fire at the pool of the South Seas Village. Sky pools and a meandering river melt effortlessly into the landscape of the Italian Village.
What are some features of the resort that will really appeal to couples?
Luxury unlike anything you can imagine and private pools in the sky.
Private plunge pools, cascading waterfalls, and meandering river pools also feature. Here, in the heart of Grenada's exclusive Pink Gin Beach, on an exotic island paradise where the intoxicating scents of spice and tropical blooms make a heady elixir for romance, we've taken the best of everything to create a whole new Sandals experience... one that takes you beyond the unexpected.
