An Earthy, DIY Nashville Wedding: Hannah and Robert
Monday, June 8, 2009
I am so loving purple for weddings, shoes, home decor - everything! I can't get enough of it. Of course I flipped when I saw this wedding, with its with rich colors, very unique details and an earthy, casual vibe. Just another example that weddings are meant to express your true self, whether you love peacocks or peonies.

Wedding Style: My wedding style Vintage, romantic, enchanting, like a story book! whimsical

My colors and why I choose them Rich purples, exotic blues, goddess greens, timeless turquoise! all these enchanting colors describe Robert and I!

My theme Peacock, enchanting

Wedding wow factor The colors, ribbons in the tree, the dance music, candy bar. I also had a live peacock dancer, painted body suit and mask and everything, her name was Ashley Boyd.
Personal touches / favors Peacock dancer, feathers in everyone's hair, winding "isle", homemade ring pillow, bird cages and buttons and mis shaped odd things for guest centerpieces, my husband doesn't drink alcohol so we did root beer as well as kegs and wine with servers
Gift for bridesmaids & groomsmen Pearl necklaces and vintage earrings, suspenders

Most special moment for me My first dance, with all of our friends and family admiring us! also my parents dance together was priceless! What I did for the kids in my wedding? Candy bar!
My Wedding Vendors: Planner: my mother, Nita Ells and Linda Welsh Caterer: Lucy Rizzo of Lucy Foods - guest went on about her food! it was amazing! Video: Lynn and Lester Taff, Nolensville, TN Gown: Remade myself with 25 year old lace! Cake: ELizabeth Starpoli or puffymuffin.com Bridesmaids: BCBG dresses Music: Richard Harper Photos: Hannahelaine Photography Decor: Linda Welsh, fabric, window frames hanging from trees, etc

My faves
All of my bridesmaids were a big huge help! Linsey Heglin, Kayla Lachelle, Shannon Ellis, Carah Ellis, Jenny Deloach, Emiley Roye, Jessica Pritchard, Bailey Todd, they truly made it all happen! My odd centerpieces, that my father married us and walked me down! The aisle, the cake! taking private dancing lessons with my dad weeks before was a once in a life time favorite!
How I found my vendors?
Bridal shows, wedding planning resources, friends? all friends and family!
My Wedding Rewind:
What I would do differently if planning again? I would have stayed longer to party with my family and friends!
Biggest waste of time or money? The back up tent! But it was a good idea!
Best value for the service/product Everything was worth the money
Neatest find? The centerpieces for my tables
Advice for other Nashville brides? Don't sweat the small stuff, really include your girlfriends and family to help you, they really want to be a part of it, and it's so exciting for everyone! Don't stress, get a massage on the day of your wedding! it really helps! Don't be afraid to do exactly what you want! Don't worry just about pleasing your guest, make it just how you imagined it as a little girl, with monkeys flying or in a 1000 year old cathedral, nothing has to be "traditional" think outside the box!
