Wedding Details

How would you describe your style as a couple?

Classic, Fun and Simple

How did you incorporate that style into your wedding?

We knew we wanted a venue that would help make the reception one big party and wouldn’t require a lot of décor. We loved that our venue had the exposed brick and beautiful chandeliers.  We didn’t want to waste time with a sit-down meal, so we chose to have a buffet. We wanted everyone to focus on dancing and having fun with friends. Our venue had a huge bar area which made it easy for our guests to quickly grab a drink and head back out to the dance floor. I told Sarah Goude (of Regalo Design) what we wanted our atmosphere to be like and she was amazing at putting everything together and offering ideas for flowers, linens, and everything else.

What was your (or your guests’) favorite aspect of your wedding?

Our favorite part was having all of our favorite people in one room together. It was great to see so many of our friends and family who live so far away that we never get to see. I hope our guests enjoyed a good night of food, drinks and dancing!

Where did you splurge?  Where did you save/DIY?

I would say we splurged with hiring a wedding planner, but that’s also how we saved the most money. Most people think having a wedding planner is an extra luxury. For us, it was a life saver! Sarah also helped us save thousands through various vendors that gave discounts because of her relationship with them. Sarah passed those discounts to us, so she ended up saving us money in the end, not to mention she handled everything. We never had to worry about calling a vendor, retrieving a contract, completing invitations, save the dates or anything. Sarah handled everything from the beginning.

Now that the wedding day is over, is there anything about your planning process you feel you could have done differently?

I would have worried less about the small things and stressed less about having the “perfect date”. Any date would have been perfect, but I was worried about planning around SEC football games! In the end, it didn’t even matter, but at the time it seemed like a big deal!

In one sentence, what words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?

Hire a full service wedding planner before you even start the planning process – this will save a lot of headaches!
