Popular Food Truck, Smoke Et Al, Serves Up Delicious Southern Fare at Nashville Weddings

Monday, March 31, 2014

--- Warning:  The scrumptious wedding food pictured below may cause hunger. ---

Smoke Et Al has been one of Nashville’s most popular and sought after food trucks for years. Specializing in Memphis-style BBQ, southern specialties, and other creative fare, Smoke Et Al serves up unique and delicious flavors with a focus on beautiful presentation. They also aim to use local, organic ingredients as much as possible – which we love here at ABG!

As part of the Houston Station Events Community, Smoke Et Al is not only able to provide their truck to serve your guests a late night snack after partying the night away, but they can also cater your entire wedding! From passed appetizers during cocktail hour to a sit-down family style dinner, Smoke Et Al can provide you and your guests a true taste of the south with their delectable BBQ and southern specialties. Hickory smoked ribs and local Yazoo beer mac and cheese anyone??

We caught up with Smoke Et Al chef and owner, Shane Autrey, to learn a little more about his booming food truck and catering business and why couples love this unique concept.

How many years have you been in business?
Three

How did you get started in weddings?
I started as a "professional" groomsman for many of my friends and family, taking notes along the way! Then I catered a friend’s wedding at Houston Station. I've been cooking professionally for 21 years so she "trusted" me.

What do you like most about weddings?
I mostly appreciate the honor of being an integral part of such an important moment in people’s lives.

What is your service philosophy?
Attentive hospitality with a good attitude. With every wedding we've been presented with certain challenges, meeting and exceeding those challenges always starts with the right perspective.

What are your strengths compared to others in your category?
Our strengths include personalization of the experience, unique flavors, presentation and the ability to execute it all on site. We bring our kitchen to the event location allowing us to prepare the food just before serving.

What attracts brides to Smoke Et Al Catering?
Food trucks are hot right now and brides are exploring alternative options to traditional wedding receptions (which we also do). At one recent wedding, we served cocktail appetizers during happy hour, a family style sit down dinner, and featured the truck outside as a late night snack wagon. The couple wanted their out of town guests to get a Nashville experience and they did!

What would previous couples say is the main reason they selected Smoke Et Al?
I think they would say: flavor, variety and attitude.

Describe the bride/couple that is most attracted to Smoke Et Al Catering?
Fun loving couples/brides with discerning taste, a passion for food, people, and again - a great attitude.

Who are your five favorite Nashville wedding vendors?
We have had the privilege of meeting so many great vendors in the past three years it's hard to just pick five! The vendors we find ourselves working with the most are Southern Events Rentals, D & D Events, Modern vintage, Helping Hands, Details Nashville, and I could go on. Houston Station and Green Door Gourmet are two venues we find ourselves serving at quite often.
