Wedding Style: My wedding style I am going to go with romantic and classic!
(I really love this pic! Ashley)
My colors and why I choose them I chose my wedding colors based on my absolute favorite flower-- "the pink peony". My colors were shades of light and pale pink- shades of green-- with a small amount of mink-- The green and mink went great with the pink!
My theme I didn't really have a theme-- I was trying to make the most beautiful wedding I could with a budget! I tried not to go "over the top" on anything--- by keeping it simple it TRULY made everything we had look more special and more beautiful. Wedding wow factor The flowers-- Not kidding-- I am still getting compliments on the flowers!! And the trumpet we had play with the organ at the ceremony was WOW! I felt like I was fanfared down the aisle! Favors Since we were working with a budget this was something we chose to cut out--- and I don't think anyone missed them!
Personalized touches We had several things that made our wedding very personal. My groom and his groomsmen wore their dress-blue military uniforms. Bryon-the groom- had spent the year of 2008 in Iraq-- and to us-- it was so personal to have him in his uniform-- it was just so touching and beautiful and a true reminder of how strong our love is. And I think that everyone there being close friends and family could relate to how significant him wearing his uniform really was. It wasn't just a tuxedo rented from a store it was a map and true display of my grooms character. Coming down the aisle I didn't just see a cummerbund (however you spell that) and a bow-tie--- I saw bravery, dedication, discipline, pride and love-- I saw the man I wanted to marry. And that made it personal for me. We also didn't get to have a slide show at the wedding or reception-- and because we have had shared so many great times together we wanted everyone there to see that as well-- so we put together an album of our childhoods and then our 5 years of dating. We also had a display of frames at the reception that showcased our favorite engagement pictures.
Gift for bridesmaids & groomsmen The bridesmaids received a pearl necklace and bracelet and the groomsmen received Steins with a metal plate engraved with their initial. Most special moment for me Coming down the aisle and seeing the tears in my grooms eyes-- It just gave me such an overwhelming feeling to see that emotion. It was also a very special moment when we first faced each other-- we each had something to whisper to the other-- and it was so funny because it was basically the same thing. What I did for the kids in my wedding? We had two bell ringers, a jr. bridesmaids, and a jr. groomsman-- They all received gifts unique to what they liked. They were our niece and nephews! My Wedding Vendors: Invitations/Flowers/Design/Planner/Keep me sane person: Hillary Robson with Brocade Design-- I seriously felt like I didn't have to worry about anything! Hillary was so knowledgeable about EVERYTHING I had a question about-- and she made planning for our wedding super easy. Not to mention that everything was just gorgeous. She will stop at nothing to make sure everything is perfect!
Photography: Donald Yeager Photography-- Amazing-- I met with several photographers that all had fabulous work but what put Don ahead of the rest was that it was just so easy to talk to him and to tell him what we wanted. He had so many great ideas and I just knew that we would work great together and that the pictures would be fabulous---and I was right.
Gown- The White Room-- Lebanon, TN--- I probably went to every dress store within a 75 mile radius of Nashville, TN. The White Room-- Hands down the best! Rings: Bell Jewelers in Murfreesboro, TN-- They were fabulous!
Music: Ahh--- Howard Scudder played the trumpet during the ceremony with Organist Charlie Parker-- At our reception we had a fabulous Jazz Trio lead by Don Aliquo from MTSU Bridesmaid dresses: Belk--- I knew all of my girls sizes and was browsing around one day (not looking for bridesmaid dresses) found them-- they had the three sizes I needed-- I bought them and they were perfect!! Food: B-McNeels provided the food and it was all delicious--- Barbara was great to work with on picking out a menu and keeping it in our price range
My faves All of the above were perfect!!!!!!!! How I found my vendors? Mainly the web! My Wedding Rewind: What I would do differently if planning again? Include our dogs! Best value for the service/product Well-- besides finding my shoes on clearance for $10.00 -- I just loved all my vendors--- they all worked wonderfully with us on our budget and never tried to push us over our spending limit! Anyone I mentioned above is super-duper-fabulous when it comes to weddings!! Advice for other Nashville brides? My biggest advice is to start the day by being aware of everything. It goes by so fast and if you get too caught up in the moment it will pass you by and you won't even remember saying I-do. Take your time- Slow down- and take it all in-- Remember the faces, remember the sounds, and most importantly remember the vows you took. Don't just say them-- hear yourself when you say them and listen to them word for word as your groom says them. Also--- just let everything that goes wrong roll off your back-- From the very beginning of planning I told myself that I wanted to enjoy this process. I didn't want to become some crazy bride who ruins their own day my freaking out because their nail polish wasn't the right shade of pink. At the end of the day-- you're married and that is all that mattered to me. Everything else that caused a hiccup in our day just added to the memories!
