Real Nashville Wedding Story: Liz and Josh
Tuesday, December 23, 2008
What happened to yesterday's blog? Can you believe that I totally forgot??? I have been blogging on ABG for over a year and yesterday was the first time ever that I forgot to blog! I've been in Atlanta and Phoenix and now Nashville for the last few weeks and I think all of the vacationing got the best of me.
Sorry:). Hope you didn't miss me too much. I definitely won't be blogging on Christmas or New Year's but Dec 22? That's no holiday Ashley.
But, today, I am back online and glad to share a great real wedding. Liz and Josh were clients of Dynamic Video. Dynamic Video was kind enough to provide still video images to accompany the blog. I also love that Dynamic Video created a custom webpage for the couple and placed three videos on the page for their guests to return to view after the wedding.
That makes it easy to share wedding videos with all of your friends...unlike mine which never saw the light of day because who is going to come over and watch it? This makes it practical and shareable.
Here's their wedding video, courtesy of Dynamic Video
Congratulations Lizz and Josh! Thank you for sharing your beachy day with us. This real wedding combined with our super cold weather make me miss the beach!

Wedding Style: My wedding style My wedding style was a combination of modern, romantic, and fun. I wanted everything to be beautiful without being too formal. We used very bold colors, which I felt like was fun and modern. But my wedding gown was very romantic. It was ivory with lace. I could not describe my wedding style with just one word. My colors and why I choose them Our wedding colors were hot pink and turquoise. I have always loved bright colors, so I knew I wanted to use two bright colors. Pink is my favorite color, and turquoise went along with our beach theme. My Theme: Our wedding had a beach theme. It was not over-the-top beachy or anything. But there were hints of the beach in the ceremony and in the decorations at the reception. We did a sand ceremony instead of lighting the unity candle. We used shells here and there. Our favors were little silver beach buckets full of pink and turquoise jelly bellies. I think there were tasteful touches of the beach. Wedding wow factor Our guests loved the flowers. People still talk about them! Steve McLellan at Garden Delights in Franklin, TN exceeded my expectations. I knew the flowers would be beautiful, but he went above and beyond to create the most beautiful bouquets and arrangements that I have ever seen. Our guests also loved our band, Syndicate of Soul. People still ask me who they were. They were amazing, and everyone danced the night away! Favors We had a few different favors for our guests. We gave them little silver beach buckets with blue and pink Jelly Belly jelly beans. We also gave them silver matchboxes. At the ceremony, we also put out wallet-sized engagement photos at the guest registry. Our guests had plenty of souvenirs from our wedding day.
Personalized touches Josh and I really wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us and to be unique. I think we achieved that throughout the day. From our programs to our matches to our sand ceremony, many of our guests commented that almost every detail of the wedding and reception matched our personalities. We also had a table with a beautiful arrangement in a vase with a verse about lost loved ones. We put pictures of our deceased grandparents and other people that have been lost around the arrangement with candles. Little details like this helped to make our day special for us. Gift for bridesmaids & groomsmen We gave the bridesmaids hot pink bags with their names embroidered on the front. We filled the bags with a "bridesmaid emergency kit" that had body spray, chap stick, deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash, safety pins, and other things a girl might need in a pinch. We put all of these items in a little makeup bag inside the big bag. The bag also had a picture frame. We gave the groomsmen a pair of pilsner glasses with their last names on them. We gave all of our grandparents personalized handkerchiefs. For our parents, the moms received the pink bags mentioned above, and the dads got the pilsners. We also got our parents personalized handkerchiefs. Most special moment for me The most special moment for me was right after Josh and I were married. Of course, when the preacher pronounced us husband and wife was exhilarating. But the moment that is most special to me is when Josh and I got to talk and embrace alone right after the ceremony. It was a very tender moment of pure joy. We had both realized a life-long dream, and it was so special to look at each other and take it all in. I don't even think we said very much. We didn't have to. It was wonderful! For the kids in my wedding We got our two little flower girls backpacks with their names on them, and we filled the bags with toys, crayons, and coloring books.
My Wedding Vendors: Videographer - Dynamic Video Photographer - Laurie Carpenter Photography Florist - Garden Delights Band - Syndicate of Soul Baker - The Bake Shoppe Rental Company - Southern Events Caterer - Nan C's Catering Bridal Attire - The White Room Makeup - Mac Cosmetics Hair - Anne Bojniewicz Rings - Shane Company My Favorites All of my wedding vendors were wonderful, or I would not have listed them here. My photographer, Laurie Carpenter, and my videographer, Jennifer Fritz, were amazing! They worked together really well, and they were both very fun and relaxed. They both wanted to capture the day as it really was. As a result, we got wonderful pictures and videos that were not too posed or too formal. I relive the day every time I see the pictures and the video. It is just like being there again. I would definitely recommend them to any bride-to-be. Also, Garden Delights did an outstanding job on the flowers at both the church and the reception. I described my thoughts and Steve McLellan ran with them. He is so creative, and he truly wants to help make the bride's day special. Our flowers were breathtaking!
My Wedding Rewind: What I would do differently if planning again If I could do it again, I would hire a wedding planner even if I had to sacrifice something else to pay for it. I think I did a great job planning my wedding, but it was a lot of work. I felt tons of pressure and stress in the months leading up to the wedding. A wedding planner could have taken some of the work off my plate. Biggest waste of time or money I don't have a good answer for this one. We did spend a lot of time and money on little details for the ceremony and reception, but I think that is what made our wedding so special to us. I can't think of anything that I would have left out. Best value for the service/product All of our vendors were reasonably priced, but there are a few that stand out. Our photographer, Laurie Carpenter, and our videographer, Jennifer Fritz, were the best-priced vendors by far. They both operate out of their homes, so they do not have to pay for a studio and a staff. This helps them keep the price down without compromising on the service or the end products. They both treated me like I was their only client, and I can't say enough about how perfect our wedding photos and video are. I would recommend them both for any picture or video needs. The White Room is also a great value. Melanie and her staff gave me unbelievable service. Melanie even opened the store for only me on Sunday when they are closed. She did this twice! And my dress was gorgeous, but much less expensive than other boutiques. I also received 10% off on my accessories such as shoes, veil, garters, and earrings. And my bridesmaids, flower girls, and mother all received 10% off of their dresses. The White Room was phenomenal! Neatest find Surprisingly, I really enjoyed some of the wedding websites for ordering personalized items. We ordered all of our wedding party, parent and grandparent gifts from these websites. And I ordered several items for me, such as tank tops, sweatpants, a bag, a jewelry pouch, etc. They said things like "bride" or Mrs. Paille" or just my name. Of course, these things aren't necessary for the wedding, but they are fun! You should indulge in a few of these items. A few of my favorites were americanbridal.com, exclusivelyweddings.com, and advantagebridal.com.
