Regalo Design Teaches Brides, Planners DIY Floral Design @ Wine & Design Class; Next Class Is Mar 2

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

Last month, I attended Regalo Design's first Wine & Design night on DIY Bouquet 101. As a former DIY bride, I was so excited to have the chance to learn how to create a bridal bouquet from one of the best in the business. With nearly 10 years in the Nashville wedding industry, Sarah & Damon Goude, owners of Regalo Designs, have a wealth of experience in floral design.

Some brides may want to take on their own flowers for their big day, which is certainly possible (I did!) - but having the skills needed to create gorgeous arrangements at a reasonable price point isn’t something that every bride has. There’s only so much you can try to learn online without having some help in person! Thankfully for all the DIY brides out there, Regalo Designs is sharing their incredible knowledge and are educating Nashville brides, planners & anyone who would like to learn how to create beautiful floral arrangements.

Me at the Regalo Design Bouquet 101 class.

On the night I attended, we learned about floral basics, types of flowers & typical local prices, ways to prepare and store raw flowers, and the best places to purchase flowers in the Nashville area. After a fun lecture from Sarah, we got to dig into the pretty stuff and create our own gorgeous bouquets!

Working from the very first steps of how to care for and prepare your flowers, we set away at stripping leaves, working with shapes and symmetry, and learning how hard it is to keep a tight grip on your bouquet while you’re putting it together! Learning how to wire a floral stem to keep the base of the bouquet a comfortable width to hold was a very tricky skill, and Sarah did a great job at guiding the class through each step. And it turns out that floral tape isn’t the stickiest tape around when it comes to wrapping up a bouquet!

At the end of the night, each participant had a beautiful bouquet to take home, and a package of information to help them take their floral design to the next level. If you’re considering DIY-ing your wedding flowers, this is a great course to attend to ensure that you are using smart strategies to create the best design.

Their next Wine & Design event is Centerpiece 101 on February 19 March 2 at 7pm, so be sure to mark that in your calendars! And if you missed out on Bouquet 101, they plan to hold it again in the coming months, so stay tuned for more details. To sign up for the centerpiece class, head to shop.regalodesign.com.
