Pumpkins & Pompoms: Southern Couple Host Nashville Wedding with Subtle, Sophisticated Fall Theme

Friday, August 1, 2014

When Meg and Geoff got married last year, they wanted to celebrate the season and incorporate their relaxed personalities into their big day. Featuring loads of fall themed details, this October wedding reception at aVenue was filled with outdoorsy charm in the couple's elegant decor, with rich colors and harvest accents. The wedding cake even featured tiny white pumpkins among the adornments to bring the outdoors in! It can be easy to go overboard with a theme, but the fabulous team at Randi Events made sure that these fall details were understated and remained sophisticated accents throughout the gorgeous setting. It’s evident in their photos that this couple truly enjoyed their wedding day, and they did their best to ensure their guests had a ball, even providing glow sticks and pompoms for the dance floor! Check out more from this romantic fall event below.

Wedding Date: October 12, 2013
Ceremony Location: Christ the King Catholic Church
Reception Locaiton: aVenue
Guest Count: 275

Meg and Geoff met at Vanderbilt hospital where Meg is a nurse and Geoff is an orthopedic resident. Both have laid back, country roots---Meg being from Mississippi and Geoff being from Texas.

Their wedding vision was "rustic elegance"  and they were inspired by everything fall!! ... Pumpkins, fall colors and natural accents.

To bring their wedding day vision to life, they choose a wonderfully rich color scheme: browns, reds, and oranges inspired by fall blooms. Rustic farms tables and wooden chairs were spread throughout the venue. Heirloom pumpkins held arrangements of succulents, roses, hydrangeas, bittersweet berries and curly willow. A large wooden chandelier hung above the wedding cake at the reception entrance and several mason jar chandeliers were scattered throughout.

The wedding cake flavor was European buttercake with white chocolate buttercream and finished with a vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream. The groom’s cake flavor was chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and fresh strawberries finished in truffle ganache.  The cake was decorated with white sugarpaste satin ribbons and handmade sugar roses, calla lilies, peonies, stephanotis and mini pumpkins.   The groom’s cake was decorated with fresh strawberries.

Chef's Market catered the event and there were several delicious food stations including Southern Comfort, Italian, and the groom's favorite---Mexican!  Each food station had its own unique china dinner plates. Glowsticks and Pom Poms peppered the dance floor as the guests danced until midnight.

The wedding design and food were perfectly complemented by the stellar entertainment.  Meg and Geoff love to two-step, so they asked John England and the Western Swingers to play the first dances.  There were two bands, so Julia and Ellen of Randi Events were able to coordinate a seamless set change during the reception.  Also, Meg is a big Ole Miss Fan, so there was a TV set up to watch Ole Miss play Texas A&M.
