Get Your Holiday Cake from a Baker That You Know + Love…Signature Cakes By Vicki

Thursday, December 1, 2011

If you have attended a Nashville bridal show (as an engaged couple or wedding pro) you have probably enjoyed a cake sample (or five, in my case) from Signature Cakes by Vicki. They're the mini cupcake samples with just the right amount of topping for a one-bite treat that gives you a great idea of just how good their cakes are. Well, they've scaled things down a little (not mini cupcakes though) for the holiday season and they're offering holiday dessert cakes that will feed up to 50 people, in their delicious flavors we already know and love.

This really is the most wonderful time of the year and to me, Thanksgiving is but a warm up for the feast of sweets and treats that the holidays tend to bring. You can keep your pumpkin spice lattes and pies, there is nothing that says holiday cheer like good old fashioned cake. And, who better to spread such cheer than Signature Cakes by Vicki? Here's how you can order yours!

Nashville-holiday-cake-baker

Starting right now, Vicki and her team are taking orders via email or, if you have any questions, call them and let them know we sent you. If you're not picky when it comes to flavors, you can get one pretty quickly (one week) but for special flavors and orders please allow more time.

Why order a cake? Easy - it's stress free and taste fantastic. These dessert cakes are great to bring to a party, to have if you're hosting one or if you'd just like to give someone a tasty gift for the season. Flavors include strawberry, caramel with butterscotch (perfect for this time of year), white chocolate, chocolate and spice which is a buttermilk spice with cinnamon and allspice and the great flavors that conjur up the holidays.

Nashville-dessert-cake--baker

Each 12-inch cake is $99 and a little extra if you want more personalized flavors. Again, allow no less than one week for your order for basic flavors (pictured, chocolate not shown) and more time for specialty flavors which include Signature Cake's margarita or key lime or banana cream. But trust me when I say the strawberry is amazing (real, pureed strawberries!) and you can't go wrong with the caramel. All the cakes come with the buttercream frosting and filling, with extra costs for ganache and any decorations. For more of their flavors click here.

Signature Cakes By Vicki's dessert and holiday cakes are a great way for you to sample her work in case you're still looking for a baker for your wedding. Her cakes are fluffy and have a great texture and taste. The same level of work is put into these cakes as is expended on the wedding cakes they make so you can expect the same great quality, just in a smaller size, just in time for the holidays.

Order your cakes soon, and be sure to mention that you heard about them from ABG! Visit their website at SignatureCakesByVicki.com.

Regalo Design ReIntroduces The Peacock Ballroom, Just in Time for Your Holiday Party or Wedding!

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

It's the time of year where everyone's looking for a great space for holiday parties and gatherings. Tucked away in Lenox Village (that cluster of townhomes off Nolensville Road near Brentwood) is a great little space that's ideal for your event, from a wedding reception to a holiday party. Cold weather is here, so outdoor venues are out unless you want to rent heaters and a tent. The Peacock Ballroom at Lenox Village might just be what you're seeking for your company party, family gathering or your New Year's Eve shindig! Regalo Design recently launched the ballroom's new website with some great pictures and tons of information.

All photos courtesy of EvinPhotography.com

The Peacock Room is now being run by Regalo Design and this means a beautiful venue with even more great options and the security of being run by a capable wedding and event planning team. The new website was recently launched and it has rental rates and pictures available for you to get a better idea of the space.

You might already know that Regalo Design does full service wedding planning and coordination. With their office located in Lenox Village where the Peacock Ballroom is, they have knowledge of the area and the amenities that come with the facility like parking, catering space, and most importantly, the use of the space itself.

Your rental of The Peacock Ballroom includes chairs and tables for up to 150 people. With 1710 square feet of space, there's a good amount of room for an intimate affair or an awesome party depending on the mood you're going for. There is also a huge catering kitchen so your caterer has ample space to set up and prep your food.

If you're more of a DIY bride, the blank canvas of a ballroom will let you decorate to your heart's desire.

If you haven't booked your space for your company party yet, or if you know anyone looking for a space, contact Regalo Design to learn more about the Peacock Ballroom. We can't wait to see your event!

Attention To Detail - A Real Wedding by Regalo Design at The Governor’s Club

Friday, November 25, 2011

We hope you're having a relaxing Thanksgiving weekend and that Black Friday hasn't been too frenzied. If you're shopping around for ideas and inspiration you've come to the right place. Today's real wedding is from Regalo Design - featuring a gorgeous wedding at the Governor's Club in Brentwood, TN. The bride and groom, Brittney and Zach, were planning their big day from Knoxville so the bride's mother put Regalo Design to the task of planning it from start to finish, and the end result? A perfect, worry-free day, with lots of joy.

From the Mother of the Bride: “We hired Sarah and Regalo Design when we realized it was getting too stressful for my daughter in Knoxville and planning a wedding in Nashville. The stress disappeared the moment that we met and hired her, which was worth every penny. So great to work with. So very professional yet sooooo much fun to work with. The attention to detail was perfect. She met and exceeded our every expectation. I wish we had another wedding to plan just so we could work together again. I recommend her for every girl's perfect day.”

A Guide To Food Trucks for Nashville Weddings: The Sweetest Post-Reception Treats

Friday, November 4, 2011

What better way to top off our Food Truck Series than with sweets worthy of any wedding? What's nice about a dessert/sweets truck is that they're not all run by generators, so there's less (or no) exhaust to be concerned with because most of them are actually wagons which you can even have indoors!

After a night of celebrating, dining and dancing, why not treat your wedding guests to a post-reception treat?  You can have your wedding caterer provide a sweet send off, like we featured here, or you can have a food truck pull up and serve them as they leave.  Either way, your guests will love it!  If you choose to hire a caterer, here are some of our partners.  If you decide to go the food truck route, we've got a handy list below.

The Sugar Wagon bakes delicious whoopie pies, cupcakes, cookies and these fantastic little peanut butter ganache cups that are perfect for weddings. They also have ice cream sandwiches that the Sugar Wagon's baker Tracy makes from scratch. With flavors like Chocolate Chip with Salted Caramel or Brownie & Mocha Ice Cream, this could be THE detail at your wedding your guests will always remember. Besides the actual wedding of course!

It was the best day when the Cupcake Collection went mobile with their bus. Now, they can come to you at your special event and bake fresh cupcakes from the bus if need be! Mignon and her team have already been catering weddings with their delicious, perfectly flavored and perfectly sized cupcakes for a while, so they know a thing or two about weddings! Having the bus on site is just an additional, fun detail. The Cupcake Collection can create specialty flavors and you can have your own fillings or frostings - contact Mignon for custom flavors and costs.

Meet Doris, the super cute, retro Tin Can Treats wagon from which your guests can have popsicles, cake and vintage glass bottled sodas. I asked owner Melodie what special treats you can have at your wedding and she said, "Doris is loaded with 'old school' favorites like Bomb Pops, Nutty Cones, Creamsicles, Ice Cream Sandwiches, Chocolate and Strawberry Shortcake bars, and popsicles. As the weather turns colder, we can provide home-made hot chocolate, caramel apples, cotton candy, popcorn, and jars full of retro candies. We can also customize our menu to fit any theme, color, or event." Check out pictures from a wedding shoot they did on their website - this would be so much fun for a vintage-styled wedding regardless of the season!

Your experience with Fleur De Lis for your wedding is preceded by a tasting session with owner Tanisha Hall. "It's like a cake tasting but it's a snowball tating! You pick the flavors and colors, and it goes over really well with brides." Tanisha's snowballs are served in clear, eco-friendly cups and serving utensils she gets from local eco-friendly company iHospitality. If you choose to use your own cups or printed napkins you definitely can and the snowballs can be served spiked (Booze Balls!) or without alcohol. If you choose the latter Tanisha is happy to suggest the flavors that pair well with alcohol. Tanisha's done weddings where the snowball colors match the wedding's color scheme and I can vouch for the wedding cake flavor (condensed milk) - it's divine.
