Part 2: Felicia + Tyler’s Wedding - Nashville Bride Shares Her Casual, Elegant, Courtyard Wedding
Friday, September 14, 2012
I absolutely love the courtyard at Nashville's Cellar One, where Felicia and Tyler were married in March. Yes, you have to have the weather gods on your side for an outdoor wedding, but when they cooperate, the result is stunning.
Felicia's mom, Laurie, shared the details of Felicia and Tyler's dessert reception yesterday. (If you missed it, click here and see their delicious food and why they opted for a Sunday, dessert reception.) But, today, Felicia shares her day, through her eyes; from how she and Tyler met to what wow'ed her guests. I love that they designed a laid back wedding that was also elegant - which is not an easy feat. But these two are pretty remarkable, and having a wedding planner mom helps too!

Read about Felicia's wedding; pin your favorite photos and jot down the resources and ideas that you love too.
I really like their wedding video by Needle & Thread Media. Be sure to watch it.

Wedding Team
Designer and Planner I Laurie Hardman of Randi Events aka Mother of the Bride. She’s basically superwoman and I would not have been able to do any of the wedding without her!
Photographer I Mary Frances - Mary and I actually went to photography school together. I took the photos at her wedding and she did the same for me! She was absolutely incredible and captured my wedding just like I would’ve---even better!
Video I Kappel of Needle + Thread. Kappel’s a good friend of mine and did such a great job capturing moments.
Wedding Rings I Shane Co is where Tyler got my ring and I just love their ethics (where they get the diamonds), their warranty program, and just the customer service every time I walk in! (We got his ring from Etsy--also equally as loved)

What were your wedding colors?
My colors were peach / light pink and grey. I’m not sure there was any rhyme or reason to choosing these colors other than I though they were beautiful colors. Also, Tyler is pretty pale and black just doesn’t work in his favor.
What were your wedding favors?
I don’t think we did favors. Oops, is that a big faux pas?
How did you add personal touches?
Tyler hand-stamped a feather and strung mini envelopes from a mini tree for our guest book! In each envelope was a piece of paper that was cut out from an Icelandic book. In the margin there was just enough room to write a short note. (Iceland is, after all, where we met!) Also Tyler works at a coffeehouse and coffee is one of his passions. Making it excellent, fair-trade, roasting it properly, etc. So we had friends set up a coffee bar and serve lattes all evening!

Did you provide gifts for your bridesmaids or groomsmen?
I gave my bridesmaids each an empty cigar box filled with anything you might need throughout a wedding day---Asprin, Band-Aids, tissues, floss, etc. Inside the box there was also a memorable photo of us and a note telling them how special they are to me.
What was your favorite moment?
Walking down the aisle! The sun seemingly came out of nowhere and shined right on me (it felt like anyway). Coming around the corner, walking into the courtyard, seeing everyone I love in one place and walking towards the tear-filled love of my life, knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with this man, can there be a better moment?
Did you do anything special for the kids in your wedding?
I bought a cute flower-girl sticker-book, but in the business of the day I forgot to give it to her! And I horrifyingly enough, never mailed it to her! She lives in Sweden, I’m going to go do that... My wedding rewind:

What would you do differently if you had to plan it all again?
Have more wedding showers---like linen parties and kitchen showers, man I missed out thinking it was only appropriate to only have one bridal shower. *Sheepishly Grinning* Spend more money on beer and wine, and I wish I would’ve danced more!
What was the best value for the service/product?
Our band!
Neatest find?
Our napkins! I loved them. They’re from Etsy.

What did your guests most enjoy about your wedding?
I kept hearing about the band, the courtyard, and the food. People were just in awe of the beauty of the courtyard, the vines climbing the brick wall accompanied by the blooming bushes, and of course the wedding. The band was a big deal as well, I’m not sure I’ve been to a friends wedding yet where there was a big band --- guests had such a blast dancing!
What words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?
Tip 1: Don’t get too set back about the “first look” (seeing your groom in your dress before the wedding). It’s still so special and I promise it takes away so much stress after the wedding to have already done your photos!
Tip 2: THIS IS YOUR DAY. Not your bridesmaids', your mom's, families', or anyone elses. Yes, they are there to celebrate with you, lift you up, and it’s good to honor the people who brought you to this day, but don’t overwhelm yourself with people-pleasing!
Tip 3: Have a spa day. So worth the money.
Don’t know where this might fit in the questions, but I just loved every bit about our ceremony. We wrote out own vows, the flower girl threw popcorn, we took communion, two of our favorite people married us, my whole family was there, and a sweet friend of my sang a chill-producing old hymn (“I Surrender All”) during our communion. *Sigh* it was just so wonderful.
I know I’m leaving out something I’ll think of after I read the article, but oh well. I’m so thankful for all the people that made this day a possibility!!
