Kellee & Terry’s Simply Stunning Post-Wedding Session at Tennessee’s Mint Springs Farm, Pt. 2

Friday, November 1, 2013

After their wedding (which we featured yesterday) Kellee and Terry opted for a post-wedding photography session with their wedding photographer, Roland's Photography.  Post-wedding photography sessions are becoming more popular and each couple's reason for doing a session varies.

I reached out to Kellee to understand why she opted for a post-wedding session.  Our discussion may help as you decide on your photographer (because her photos are incredible!) as well as whether or not a post-wedding session is right for you.

When did you decide to have a post-wedding session - before your wedding or after?
We decided after the wedding.

Why were you interested in a post-wedding session?
The morning of our wedding it rained pretty good, so we weren't able to take advantage of the beautiful scenery our venue provided. There were still quite a few shots we wanted, so when our photographer suggested we come back out for a post-wedding session we thought it was a great idea.

What was the goal of the session? (i.e. more time for photos? change of attire/hair? to change locations? improved weather?)
The goal of the second session was to not only get the beautiful outdoor shots, but we also wanted more editorial style photos, which we really didn't have time for the day of the wedding.

How far after your wedding did you have your post-wedding session?
It was about a month and a half after the wedding when we had the post-wedding shoot.

Was it held at the same location?
Yes, our venue had so many wonderful locations and props for photos, and they were very accommodating at allowing us to come back.

What changes did you make?
We tried our best not to change anything, we wanted to recreate our wedding day even down to the same hair and makeup. We wanted both sets of photos to appear seamless.

Is a post-wedding session one that you would recommend to other brides?
Absolutely, especially if something such as weather or time prevents them from capturing certain details. Plus, it's a great opportunity to put your wedding dress on again.
