Kellee & Terry’s Simply Stunning Wedding at Tennessee’s Mint Springs Farm, Pt. 1
Thursday, October 31, 2013
Kellee (whose engagement photos we featured last month) is honest. In her own words, her whole wedding was a "splurge". I like the candidness of her response because a wedding is a splurge. No matter your budget, they are expensive. There is no way around it.
But aren't they a joy! Weddings are a wonderful way to introduce families, bring together friends from all over and to allow those important to you to celebrate your love and marriage. And, weddings like Kellee's are not only full of love and family but stunning details and decor, which we love.
Between the attractive couple, the breathtaking venue and the exquisite detail, I'm left wanting to see more from their gorgeous, wedding day. And once you see this recap, I'm sure that you will too.
Special thanks to Roland's Photography for capturing all of the details!

My Wedding Details
How would you describe your style as a couple?
That's a tough question. I guess I would describe it as modern classic, clean and chic with an oh-so slight retro vibe. We are a pretty laid back couple; we tend to go with what feels comfortable for the moment. We don't stick to any one style but rather blend a mixture of different styles until we find something that satisfies the occasion.
How did you incorporate that style into your wedding?
We really wanted an elegant and romantic wedding but with an ole school vintage feel. However, lately I have really been drawn to more natural and organic elements like reclaimed wood and beautiful landscape. So, when we found Mint Springs Farm, which by the way was still under construction, we saw an opportunity to combine the elegance of crystal chandeliers, champagne chiffon and Juliet roses with white washed reclaimed church pews and a rustic barn. Most often in barn weddings you see a lot of wood, mason jars and burlap which can be a lot of fun, but I wanted our wedding to showcase the love that we have for one another in a more elegant and romantic way. We were able to glamorize the feel of the barn by adding drapery, crystals and vintage style velvet sofas and chairs; we also kept the colors soft and muted. We decorated in ivory and champagne with just a subtle hint of blush, and to keep it from being overly feminine we added charcoal grey. The bridesmaids wore different dresses in shades of champagne and the groomsmen wore a three piece suit in varying shades of charcoal grey. The addition of vintage style jewelry and custom floral print bow ties and pocket squares gave the wedding party that slight vintage feel we were trying to accomplish.
What was your (or your guests’) favorite aspect of your wedding?
It would probably depend on who you asked. Most guests raved about the food and the venue, but the design of our wedding invitation seemed to set the tone well in advance and got all of our guests excited. It was a grey silk folio wrapped in pearl pebble paper; it had burlap and satin ribbon with an antique style broach. Several guest thought we had sent them a gift in the mail. However, my favorite aspect would have been my four year old son walking me down the aisle. Terry would say it was the reception and being able to have fun and celebrate with our friends and family.
Where did you splurge? Where did you save/DIY?
Aside from the invitations, I think the whole wedding was a splurge. I made a promise to myself that I would have no regrets when it was over. We saved by not having a videographer, we knew our photographer would be able to capture every detail and we didn't feel like we would miss out on anything. We hired my son's preschool teachers to watch and entertain the younger kids in a separate room and we ordered them pizza, so that we didn't have to include them in the total head count. We didn't need to hire a planner since the venue supplied us with a great designer and planner. I also made my own signs for the tables, and bride and groom's chairs, as well as the place cards for the head table.
Now that the wedding day is over, is there anything about your planning process you feel you could have done differently?
No, our planning process was very smooth and stress free, mostly due to Brandy our planner. She listened to my ideas and understood my vision very well. Everything turned out better than I could have hoped for.
In one sentence, what words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of planning?
Remember that it's not about the decorations or the flowers or the cake or any part of the wedding itself, it's about a marriage between two people who love each other and that's the only thing that really matters.
