Leigh Ann & Paul’s Noah Liff Wedding Proves Good Food & a Fabulous Band Make All the Difference!

Friday, October 3, 2014

There are some couples who stay true to themselves throughout the wedding planning process and those weddings always turn out to be some of the most heartfelt, fun events that we feature on Ashley’s Bride Guide.

We were drawn to Leigh Ann and Paul’s wedding from the start. And how could we not be? First, we fell in love with the little details from the day, from the cigar bar to the popcorn station. Then we saw just how much fun the reception looked — check out Leigh Ann rockin’ the tambourine! — and how thrilled everyone was to be there.  And most importantly, their smiles and genuine love for each other flows from them and seems to touch everyone around them. And really, that’s what weddings should be about.

Enjoy Leigh Ann and Paul’s wedding through their pictures below. We sure did!

Wedding Details

How would you describe your style as a couple?
I would describe our style as traditional elegance.

How did you incorporate that style into your wedding?
The Noah Liff Opera Center fit beautifully into our traditional elegance style and they were so accommodating. The center has beautiful lighting and glass walls that overlook the city and make Nashville a true part of the setting. We went with a spring green color theme and it complimented the outdoors that was brought in through the windows. We definitely tried to incorporate some fun, yet elegant, elements into our special day. We had a signature drink, "Skip", that we always serve at our UT tailgates and we also had a popcorn bar and a cigar bar for our guests to enjoy.

What was your guests’ favorite aspect of your wedding?
It was really important to us that our guests enjoy the "turn around" and not feel like they were just hanging around waiting on the reception to begin. Appetizers and drinks were served and we were able to eat then as well. We wanted energy for the dance floor!  It was a "Happy" experience, as this was the song my dad and I danced to along with my husband and his mom. The band leader then encouraged our guests to get "Happy" with us and they certainly did! Pharrell Williams would have been proud.

Where did you splurge?  Where did you save/DIY?
We probably splurged on the heavy appetizers at the reception instead of serving a seated dinner. It worked well for us as the band was able to begin playing immediately and there was no down time and the dance floor was never empty. Magi is an incredible band and we credit them with making our reception so much fun. Bacon and Caviar did an absolutely amazing job and all of our guests raved about the food.

The area where we were able to save/DIY was with the flowers. We are so fortunate to have a friend who is an amazing floral designer and my mom's friends pitched in and helped her. It really did save us some money. We thought, at first, that having a wedding planner was a splurge, but it truly was not. It was a necessity and Sarah Willard with Music City Events helped us with every aspect of the event and gave excellent advice that saved us money as well.

Now that the wedding day is over, is there anything about your planning process you feel you could have done differently?
There is truly nothing that we would have done differently. We had a great experience planning our wedding and we had a wonderful time from the beginning until the end of our special day. It only happens once, and we did our absolute best to not sweat the small stuff.

In one sentence, what words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?
You can choose to stress or you can choose not to – the choice is completely up to you.

For many women, their fascination with weddings fades after they say, “I do.” Not for me. Even though my wedding was two years ago, I still very much have a heart for weddings and helping brides focus on what’s important — building a day that reflects both the bride and the groom while focusing on the why of the wedding — the marriage. In addition to my job as a personal trainer and wellness coach, I also coordinate weddings part time, offering couples both perspective and a little elbow grease to make sure their wedding day is a success. I’m a huge advocate for life balance and I like to remind and encourage couples to keep their sanity — and a healthy relationship — in the midst of wedding planning.
