Friday, May 3, 2013
I am elated to feature Megan and Brian's wedding, which took place at the Loveless Barn, a world renowned restaurant and Nashville staple. Samantha of Firefly Events, one of their wedding planners, alerted me to this fabulous couple and shared details about their nuptials, which were vibrantly captured by Evin Photography. In telling me about their day, their planners shared the following, which set the tone for their feature, our wedding of the week:

Heyburn & Jessica Delight Guests with a Campfire, Cupcakes & Lattes at their Houston Station Wedding
Friday, April 26, 2013
Jessica and Heyburn hosted their wedding ceremony and reception at Houston Station. Their wedding is certainly Pinterest worthy but it wasn't born from Pinterest wedding. Instead, this is a wedding of a bride and groom who look inside for inspiration - from hosting a campsite to not even having true wedding colors. Design was tasteful and sophisticated but was second to the overall experience. They wanted to make sure their day encompassed what they love as a couple - favorite cupcakes, DJs, and a venue that spoke to their values.

Kim & Jason’s Whimsical Wedding Reception & Ceremony at the Nashville Zoo
Friday, April 12, 2013
Ninety-nine percent of the time, our wedding stories are told from the bride's perspective, or that of the wedding planner. Today we're in luck! Kimberly and Jason came together to tell us about their Nashville Zoo wedding and boy am I happy they did. What a team! If you normally just look at our photos, take a few extra minutes to read about their day and their oh-so helpful advice.
Special thanks to Sarah of Music City Events (their planner) who told me all about their lovely wedding, and Keoni K Photography. who was quick to repond to our request for photos, which proved to be incredible!

Modern Meets Vintage at Chris and Dawn’s Traditional, Low-Key BBQ Wedding
Friday, April 5, 2013
You may remember Chris and Dawn's wedding from our mix-gender bridal party feature a few weeks ago. Their selection of their bridal party based on relationships versus tradition really stood out. As Dawn put it, we..."didn't want to limit ourselves to people who are all the same sex. Those are the people we wanted behind us as we said our vows."

A DIY Bride’s Classic Scarritt Bennett Ceremony Followed by Intimate, Aerial Rooftop Reception
Friday, March 29, 2013
Hillary of Your Day of Fairy Tales has a knack for attracting creative do-it-yourself (DIY) brides who are smart enough to know that they can't DIY their planning! Take Whitney and Matt's wedding. Whitney DIY'ed many of her design details but left the heavy lifting on her wedding day to Hillary. She didn't want to work at her wedding day nor lean on the help of her family or friends. The result was a day that everyone could sit back and enjoy.

Kelley & Denard’s Vibrant, Countryside Wedding at Front Porch Farms, Photographed by The Collection
Friday, March 22, 2013
It's been over a year since The Collection first featured Kelley and Denard's wedding on their blog. But, their wedding was so memorable that it remains a favorite. I'll admit, I'm a sucker for their color palette of red and turquoise. No matter how many times I see it, when it's done well, as their was, it blows me away. While an unlikely match up, the red and blue are a perfect complement! The colors popped against the beautiful, natural backdrop of their countryside wedding venue, Front Porch Farms. And it helps that all of the wonderful details and vibrance were meticulously captured by The Collection.

Friday, March 15, 2013
Ashley is a dear friend. She was a green blogger for Ashley's Bride Guide when she had time to share her latest eco-friendly finds, before she got engaged and planning took over as her second job.
When she got engaged to Kolade, I was so happy for them. Before I met him, I knew enough to like him. He balanced her and made her smile. That's all that mattered to me.

Jordan and Jay Host Their Impressive, $5000, Do-It-Yourself Wedding in their Nashville Backyard
Friday, February 15, 2013
I'm absolutely amazed at how much creative, focused people can achieve when they plan weddings. Take Jordan and Jay. Their wedding was $5000 but it could easily pass for 5xs that budget. They knew what they wanted, what they valued. Then, they splurged on photography and a planner, asked for help and DIY'ed what they could.
No matter what your budget - be it $5k or $100k, you want to spend your money wisely while ensuring your day reflects what you value.

Josh + Alyssa Wed at Franklin’s Trinity View Farm; Party at Recently Renovated One @ Cannery Row
Friday, December 21, 2012
Recently, we featured the new brand of Nyk and Cali, Wedding Photographers, you can view that blog here and now you can see one of the weddings they shot this year! I was drawn to Josh and Alyssa's wedding on their blog partly because they are lovely and quite obviously in love, but I also like their venue! It's new to me and gorgeous. The "barn" looks like it could be transported and live happily in France or Italy, while still fitting perfectly into the Tennessee countryside.

Superman Marries His Super Bride at a Lovely, Summer Wedding at Legacy Farms
Friday, December 14, 2012
Some brides hire their photographer because they love their style or they fit their wedding budget. To Shannon, who married Blaine in July, those things obviously mattered. But what was most important was that she hire a photographer who was professional with a calm demeanor. "She understood all the elements of stress that can go into a wedding day and she wanted to work with a photographer who was creative while also helping the day run smoothly without added anxiety."

Lucy and Corey Hire Joon Powell to Photograph their Ghanian-American Wedding in Chicago
Friday, November 23, 2012
Lucy and Corey were married in May of this year in Tinley Park, Illinois, which is outside of Chicago. Joon Powell, a Nashville photographer, featured their wedding on her blog and I was curious about their wedding, with its African ties, especially since Joon lives here and the couple doesn't. I reached out to Joon to learn a bit more about how a Nashville photographer ended up in a Chicago suburb photographing a multicultural wedding. Here's what Joon had to say...
