Magali + Thomas Host Enchanting, Woodsy Wedding at Nashville’s Travellers Rest Plantation

Friday, January 15, 2016

Magali + Thomas' had a very clear vision for their Nashville wedding at Travellers Rest Plantation and with the help of Firefly Events, it was executed perfectly.  They sought a woodsy atmosphere that was also intimate.  We love that they were unafraid to mix earthly elements with modern touches, like the chandeliers: unexpected yet magical!

Enjoy their lush and luxurious wedding day and be sure to read Magali's one wedding regret; it's one that we hear too often.

Wedding Details

How would you describe your style as a couple?
Simple and somewhat traditional with some flairs of fun :)

Where did you get your inspiration (for decor, style, colors, etc.)?
Im not sure, I really just wanted our wedding to have an enchanting woodsy kind of feel, and feel very intimate.

How did you incorporate that style into your wedding (e.g. décor, colors, details or even picking the venue)?
The lighting was very dim and warm during the reception with chandeliers hanging from the trees, our colors were very muted with pale peaches and green and gold. Our decor was mostly vintage themed furniture, chairs, picture frames, ladders etc..

What was your (or your guests’) favorite aspect of your wedding?
Surprisingly, although it was HOT, I think people enjoyed that it was so natural and outdoors, it felt like a secret garden party!

Where did you splurge?  Where did you save/DIY?
I think we splurged on the food and the decor. I had to convince my husband to let me get those barnwood tables but I think it was well worth it because it fit the look for the wedding so well. We saved on flowers, especially at the church.

Who were your favorite vendors and what made them exceptional?
I absolutely loved working with Beyond Details.  They customized our food completely so that we could have some of my grandmothers recipes from Ecuador. The food was delicious and unique. Samantha and Michelle from Firefly were also incredible, they made the wedding so beautiful and so stress free!

Now that the wedding day is over, is there anything about your planning process you feel you could have done differently?
My biggest regret is not having a videographer, I didnt think I would watch the video but now I wish we had one to go back and listen to the wonderful speeches and see everything “live” again.

In one sentence, what words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?
Consider each others wishes and don’t get hung up on the little things, on the day of your wedding just appreciate all your blessings!

The Outdoor Wedding Ceremony: Nature… Perfected

Monday, November 2, 2015

The simple beauty of nature is one of the top reasons brides consider outdoor events.  It's why brides risk heat, rain, and humidity and pray that the weather gods are favorable on their big day.  We get it.

If you are considering an outdoor ceremony (and going to such great lengths to have an outdoor event), why not push the natural theme to limit?  Take a look at these outdoor ceremonies, designed by Nashville's Enchanted Florist.  They are all so different and each enhances the natural background in unexpected ways.

Regalo Design’s Full-Service Wedding Planning Includes Impeccable Service, Amazing Florals, & Décor

Thursday, July 30, 2015

Regalo Design has long been one of Nashville’s go-to vendors for exceptional wedding planning services, lush floral arrangements, and beautiful décor options.  Starting with their own big day, Regalo’s owners, Sarah and Damon have been involved in the wedding industry for almost 10 years.

What many may not know is that Regalo Design offers full-service wedding planning options, with personalized service that ensures your day will be exactly what you’ve dreamed.  To find out more about what their new full-service option provides, we recently talked with Sarah.  Check out our interview with this planner extraordinaire below!

What does your full-service option provide for brides and their families?
This option provides the ability to enjoy the planning process and most importantly the wedding day.  Too often we speak with brides who are overwhelmed and stressed out by the wedding planning process, which can take an emotional toll on anyone.  At Regalo Design, we strive to build relationships with our clients so that we can better serve them not just on the day of, but throughout the whole experience.  To us, it is more than just planning a wedding.  We actually care that your day is perfect as you begin your life with the one you have chosen to spend forever.

How is this offering different from a partial planning session with Regalo?
It doesn’t matter which service a bride chooses, we still have to do the same amount of work on the day of.  The difference with the partial planning package and the full-service option is time and connections.  The partial planning begins two months prior to the wedding.  For some brides, this is all they need, but for others, they feel overwhelmed at the thought of completing all of the details in the final months leading up to the wedding.  For the full service option, at the two-month point, we are almost done with the details of the day so that they can relax and enjoy time with family, friends, and most importantly…their fiancé!

Does the full service package provide florals, linens, and rentals?
The full-service planning package includes full-service planning from engagement to wedding day, as well as our planning center, a rehearsal coordinator, day-of staff to take care of full set up and tear down, and flowers and décor such as centerpieces, draping, & lighting.  We are not a rental company, so we do not have tables, chairs, tents, dance floors, linens and china.  However, we do book all of that for our clients if needed through amazing rental companies.  We DO have all of the embellishments such as centerpieces, arches, lanterns, table embellishments, draping, string lights, up lights, and all of the décor pieces that create the atmosphere on your wedding day.

What kinds of things do brides and their families most appreciate about going with a full-service package with Regalo?
They appreciate the fact that we are their advocate and we have their best interest in mind.  Damon and I had an amazing wedding day, but that day was almost 10 years ago.  Our job is not to give our clients OUR wedding day; our job is to give them THEIR wedding day!  We do this by listening to what our clients want and what their needs are.  It isn’t about us or anyone else on that day.  It is all about the bride and groom! We truly stay focused on that and try to avoid outside factors that can ruin a bride & groom’s day.

What would you say to a bride who is considering going with a day-of package or trying to plan their wedding on their own?
At the very least, find a day-of planner.  There are so many things that can happen on the day-of and it is so important to have a professional in place on the wedding day to take care of any situations that might arise.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day?
My favorite part is when I close the doors before the bride enters the ceremony. I am standing there with just the bride and whomever is walking her down the aisle. There is such peace in that moment that is unexplainable. The emotion is so raw and genuine and every week when I see a bride who is about to see her groom, it amazes me. Very few people get to experience this moment and I am so blessed to be a part of it. In that moment, we are reminded that this is what it is all about, and it is wonderful to see the bride’s love just waiting to burst through the doors to greet her groom.

Budget Weddings at Tennessee State Parks

Thursday, June 18, 2015

When it comes to planning a wedding, the venue cost can often eat up most of the bride and groom's budget.  Luckily for Tennesseans, we have many beautiful state parks for that budget savvy bride who would rather splurge on a fabulous band or delicious food than the venue rental fee.  State parks are not a wedding-specific venue, so they don't charge those marked-up wedding venue prices and don't have "preferred vendors" the bride and groom must use, which means you can bring your own alcohol and ask your Grannie to make the cake if you feel like it!

Tennessee State Parks are also a great choice for the minimalist or outdoorsy bride.  The outdoors lends itself really well to a wedding.  Who needs to spend a fortune on flowers when you have the beauty of Tennessee surrounding you and your guests on your big day?  From beautiful mountains to lakes, rivers, and waterfalls, Tennessee's State Parks are the most amazing backdrop for any size wedding.  You'll get more bang for your buck as well, with prices ranging between $250-$550.  Plus, State Parks don't exactly have a maximum capacity, so if you want a 300 person wedding, this might be an inexpensive option.

Simply Southern Events by Elizabeth Styles Shoot at Arrington Vineyard for Free-Spirited, Boho Bride

Monday, June 15, 2015

Not every bride is the classic, white gown, traditional wedding, kind of bride.  Elizabeth Wright of Simply Southern Events by Elizabeth wanted to speak right to that nontraditional bride in a recent photo shoot she styled.  Elizabeth knew exactly the look she was going for when she created it, and it speaks right to those that love a Boho-chic style.

This shoot was held at Arrington Vineyards and Elizabeth loved it because of the nature and simplicity of the venue.  The sunset provided an airy backdrop for these pictures taken by Christy Graves of Dream Luxe Photography.  Another thing Elizabeth loved about the shoot is how most of the pictures were able to be improvised because of what Arrington Vineyards had to offer.  She stated that they had a shot list, but wanted to stick with the free spirit vibe.

I loved this shoot even more after talking with Elizabeth about why she picked the vendors that helped her.  She told me that these vendors were people she either knew or had met through word of mouth, and they were all getting started in the wedding industry.  She told me, "We all have to start somewhere!"  They were all able to work together to achieve this Boho, free-spirited photo shoot.  Great inspiration for that free-spirited bride!
