Danielle and Kyle, whose wedding we will feature tomorrow, kicked off their wedding weekend with a celebration of Nashville by hosting their rehearsal dinner at Hard Rock Café! What fun!
When I asked Danielle about their wedding festivities, here's what she had to say...
"We absolutely love Nashville and that really became a theme when we were searching for venues. Since we knew so many of our friends and family members would be traveling from out of town, we really wanted to choose venues that would showcase Nashville and the history of Nashville’s music scene.
Our rehearsal dinner was at Hard Rock Café, which provided an amazing view of lower Broadway. It was great for all the out-of-towners to experience the Honky Tonks and all that Nashville has to offer."

Nashville is a city that you want to show off. What better way to do so than to treat your guests to a ceremony perched on a rooftop that offers stunning views of the spectacular skyline? Carolyn and Jeffrey are a fashionable couple that describe their personal style as classic, sleek and modern. That style was translated beautifully by planner Sarah Willard from Music City Events, into a luxurious and contemporary Nashville-style wedding for the bride and groom’s out-of-town guests to enjoy.
Along with a great party, Carolyn and Jeffrey also wanted to provide their guests with scrumptious menu offerings, tapping one of Nashville’s most sought-after caterers (and an Ashley’s Bride Guide favorite!), Chef’s Market, to do so. From the mini shrimp and grits sliders to the stylish urban décor, this wedding screams southern chic with a nod to downtown sensibility.
Read on for more in-depth details from the bride and of course, to view more stunning photos by Keoni K...

My Wedding Details
How would you describe your style as a couple?
Sleek, simple, modern and a splash of traditional.
How did you incorporate that style into your wedding (e.g. décor, colors, details or even picking the venue)?
We wanted a wedding that was “Nashville” as all our guests were coming from out of town, but we absolutely wanted to avoid anything “country” or “shabby chic” – We chose the bridge building as a venue because of the sweeping views of the downtown skyline and the modern facilities. We went with a basic black and white/ivory color scheme with pops of teal thrown in to keep it interesting. We wanted to keep everything really clean and simple so the focus would be on the party. Our vision for the evening was a really awesome party that there just happened to be a wedding before.
What was your (or your guests’) favorite aspect of your wedding?
I hate to say the whole evening, but it really was just amazing. The food, the music, the décor, the party – it was all perfect. If I had to say one thing, it would be the music and dancing. (We picked every song that was played and DJ Gerard did a beyond amazing job arranging the flow and keeping the party going!) Everyone had the best time and we did too!
Where did you splurge? Where did you save/DIY?
We definitely splurged on the food, venue and photography. We saved big time on all the paper goods by designing them ourselves. We used an online service to have everything printed and then assembled it ourselves. It really made it special to have the invitations/programs/etc… so personal.
Now that the wedding day is over, is there anything about your planning process you feel you could have done differently?
No, actually I wouldn’t change a thing. Of course there were small things that went awry – but that’s what Sarah, our wedding planner, was there for. I could not imagine going through this experience without her!
In one sentence, what words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?

The year 2013 was a pretty good one. Nashville couples and vendors alike took a no-holds-barred approach to weddings. We saw some of the most innovative, fresh and downright awesome ideas that have forever changed the way we do weddings in this city, from here on out!
Though it was hard for us to choose just a few, here’s a list of our favorite Nashville wedding happenings in 2013. If you are recently engaged, our best-of list offers a great starting point as you plan.
~~~
11) Late-Night Snacks at Receptions
Let’s be honest: We’ve all left a wedding a time or two and went home to eat a little something. With all the dancing, the reception food burns off quickly, leaving guests feeling a little hungry. So we were glad when we saw late-night snacks becoming a trend! Mini sliders, sandwiches and other savory treats are a great addition to any reception.
Chef’s Market took on this challenge last year by setting a precedence of the way Nashville caterers do food. From their mini salmon burgers to their shrimp cocktail with bloody mary shooters, Chef’s Market lets us know that you don’t have to give up good taste for gorgeous presentation.
Read about late night snacks here.
10) Bachelorette Nashville Makes Party-planning Easy
You don’t know the pressure of planning a bachelorette party until it’s your best friend asking you to throw hers. It’s one thing to plan a fun evening for two, but it’s a totally different experience to plan an exciting, unforgettable evening for your friend and all of her closest pals!
Bachelorette Nashville takes the worry out of the bachelorette party planning process and guarantees a stress-free planning time for you and an awesome time for your friends! I thought this was a novel idea and I'm looking forward to the launch of Bachelor Nashville in January!
9) Wedding 101 Moves To The Gulch
Nashville brides have something to sing about: They no longer have to travel to Franklin to use the awesome, free wedding resource that is Wedding 101! This year, they’ve moved a little closer to home in the Gulch and we’re mighty happy they did!
Read about Wedding 101 here.
8) First Slow Motion Video Booth Comes To Nashville
There are only two companies in the country that offer slow motion video for weddings and Nashville’s got one of them! Details Nashville is the first in this city to offer this option to couples, and boy, is it a nice touch! A video is recorded for nine seconds and a few minutes later, your slow motion video is ready to watch!
Read about Slow Motion Video Booth here.
7) 12th Table, Our New Favorite Blog
12th Table, an event curation and rental company, launched at the end of 2013 and their blog quickly became our obsession. It's all about Nashville and full of great taste. We were hooked after this post on Nashville wedding favors:
6) Neha And Guru’s Lavish Indian Celebration At Three Nashville Venues
What’s more perfect than the flawless combination of love, family and tradition on your wedding day? We love how Neha and Guru held tight to their Indian traditions, yet put their modern touch on their three-day wedding celebration, held at Oz, the War Memorial Plaza and the Parthenon. This just goes to show that there can be an effortless blend of the old and the new to make a fabulous event!
Everyone who saw their multi-day celebration agreed; it was remarkable.
5) The NotWedding
The most anticipated and unique bridal show of the year award goes to The NotWedding. It was a great event and an uncommon way for brides and grooms to experience a wedding as they shopped for wedding vendors. Genius.
Read about The NotWedding here.
4) Beautiful wedding at Mint Springs
We can't deny that we LOVE Mint Springs which is why Kellee and Terry's wedding was one of our favorites of the year.
Read about this Mint Springs wedding here.
3) The Announcement of Houston Station’s Event Community, a One-Stop Shop for Brides
The folks over at Houston Station have made wedding planning much easier! This year, they announced that they’ll be opening the Houston Station Event, Art and Music Community — a place for some of Nashville’s most awesome wedding vendors to come together and help brides during the planning process. Some wedding vendors moved in in 2013. Couples can start taking advantage of this one-stop-shop resource in early 2014.
Read about Houston Station's Event Community here.
2) A Southern Wedding to Love: Belle Meade Plantation Wedding with Bridesmaids In Boots!
I love it when a couple finds a wedding theme they like and fully commits to it! And, apparently brides all over loved this wedding too, making it our most popular of the year!
We saw that with Seth and Betsy’s southern-inspired wedding that featured personal touches we just adored, especially the cowboy boots all the bridesmaids wore! It’s the little things that make a wedding memorable and we love it when a couple makes their day their own.
Read about this popular Nashville wedding here.
1) Lighting from Bright Event Productions
While the company launched at the very end of 2012, Bright Event Productions' lovely lighting didn't debut in weddings until 2013.
We loved Bright Event Productions’ inspired approach to lighting. I mean, who didn’t adore the big ol’ ‘Love’ sign and the lightbulb chandelier? Many brides made these signature pieces the theme of their wedding.
Read about Bright Event Productions here.
These are our Nashville favorites from 2013. We're looking forward to seeing what all of your Nashville wedding pros and couples come up with in 2014.
