From Beyoncé to Bach, Harpist Kirsten Agresta Copely Provides Live Music at Nashville Weddings

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

When asked what new wedding find our readers might love, Toni, of Celebrations by Design, raved about Kirsten Agresta Copely, a talented musician in Nashville that provides a unique take on both traditional and modern wedding music.

Kirsten is an acclaimed harpist that has played on shows like "the Today Show" and "Late Night with David Letterman."  She’s also played with numerous musical artists, including Mrs. Carter (aka Beyoncé), and for royalty.  (Check out her gallery here.)  When she's not traveling with legends, she offers her musical talent at weddings in Nashville and around the country.  She can play anything from classical to your favorite modern love song.

Live music at a wedding can add so much dynamic and interest to the event.  It provides something that recorded music just cannot.  Read more below about Kirsten and what she has to offer.  Be sure to check out her website for some samples of her beautiful music.

What can having a live musician at a reception or ceremony add to a wedding?
Live music provides the ambience for a wedding event and reflects the personality of the bride/groom.  Whether the music is traditional or modern, the versatility of the harp offers endless possibilities.

Are you able to play “our song” or other songs we request?
I have a vast repertoire of songs from classical to popular, and am also open to transcribing a song for the harp if it’s possible to do so.

Are we able to meet and plan before the big day?  If so, what should I be prepared to have with me (questions, examples of music, etc.)?
I offer a complimentary consultation with you and your betrothed to choose your ceremony music at my studio.  You can bring ideas for music with you, or allow me to play some examples of different choices for you.

Do you have a video we could share with our readers?
I do not have a video available for posting, but any interested clients are welcome to visit my website for more information, sound samples, and media.

Music City Events Shares Unusual Decor Ideas for Your Nashville Wedding

Monday, March 23, 2015

When it comes to wedding decor, most brides are familiar with candles, mirrors and tall glass cylinders with tissue poms.  Plus, with Pinterest throwing ideas at you every few seconds, decorating for your wedding can feel overwhelming and monotonous at the same time.

That's where a talented wedding planner adds value.  A great planner can help you expand your thinking to incorporate so much more.

I spoke with Sarah, lead planner and owner of Music City Events, who shared ingenious ways to decorate your Nashville wedding.  Here are a few of her ideas:

LARGE COUTURE BALLOONS

36" white balloons are a simply marvelous way to highlight the cake table at your reception.  They add a stunning decor element for your wedding ceremony for less the $300!  Balloons for your reception, with elegant fabric tassels, add a very festive feel for as little as $4 without helium or $8 with helium!

TREES

Take a nod from nature (or the future Queen of England) and consider incorporating full size potted trees into your wedding!  Trees create a garden area in the entrance to your wedding, which is a stunning first look for your guests.  Use trees between long banquet tables for an amazing and dramatic setting.  All you need are a few simple flower arrangements and candles to finish the look.  Music City Events created this look for a seated 350 person reception for less than $3,000.

BOXWOOD HEDGES

Boxwood hedges will be all the rage for 2015 and moving into 2016.  You can create a box with plush lounge furniture and fill it with boxwood hedges, or use shaped boxwood to even compliment your cake table!  If you're handy, build your own white boxes trimmed in boxwood for your reception or ceremony decor.

ALL WHITE DANCE FLOORS

There is something so very chic about an all white dance floor and it allows you to play with color and lighting like no one's business!  Play with color and all whites for a dramatic setting at your reception.  A white dance floor also gives you the ability to create killer monogram statements.

Get to Know Nashville Party Authority, a Professional & Experienced Wedding DJ Company

Monday, October 13, 2014

Newly-engaged couples: If you’re looking for a wedding DJ with lots of experience in keeping the dance floor packed all reception long, look no further than Nashville Party Authority!

We got to speak with Blair Saldana of Nashville Party Authority about what makes their services unique and why brides should look their way for their wedding reception needs. Learn more about Nashville Party Authority here:

Tell us about what services you offer to brides.

We are wedding DJs and proud of it! We love music and we know music. We’re experts at positioning it and mixing it in such a way that it entertains. But music and DJ mastery is only a portion of our skillset. We are seasoned public speakers and capable party planners. We routinely compose wedding and reception itineraries, all while working closely with, and deferring to, our clients and their wedding planners. In addition to our DJ service, Nashville Party Authority offers top-of-the-line lighting, karaoke, photo booths and professional dance instruction.

How did you get your start in your business and in the wedding industry?

My business partner and I both have radio personality backgrounds. This opened up the opportunity to DJ private parties and wedding receptions in addition to radio. We had both feet in different ponds for a couple of years before we decided to devote ourselves exclusively to the wedding DJ business. Why specialize in weddings? Well, you might say the wedding business chose us. Before long, we found ourselves in high demand as weddings DJs. We’ve never looked back. It was absolutely the best decision of our careers.

What makes your services unique?

I think one of the biggest things that really sets Nashville Party Authority apart is that we are full-time wedding professionals. These days, everyone communicates via email, but should a bride call, there’s always someone in the office to answer that call. You can count on us to answer our emails promptly and we are devoted 100 percent to our brides. In other words we’re not weekend DJs. This is what we do, it’s all we do, and we do it well. Our staff has distinct skillsets such as backgrounds in radio, public speaking, theatre, party planning, audio production and video choreography/dance so our clients get a lot of expertise for their buck.

Why do you love working in the wedding industry?

When we bring a bride and groom, their friends, their families, parents and grandparents together on the dance floor, it makes for the perfect moment, and we’re ecstatic to orchestrate that moment. It’s a great feeling. We love to entertain people. We love to make them dance. It’s as simple as that.

What’s your advice to brides who are just beginning the wedding planning process?

I would tell her to be very thorough, to ask lots and lots of questions—you can’t ask too many questions— and to trust her instincts. When she interviews the right vendor, she’ll know it. When she finds that professional, don’t hesitate, book the date. Chances are this vendor is in very high demand and if you don’t go ahead and book it, someone else will.

The NotWedding Part 1: Not Your Typical Rustic Wedding, Ideas from Nashville Vendors

Monday, July 28, 2014

Last month, Jenn and I headed to The Nashville NotWedding, a faux wedding designed to showcase real wedding ideas.   As one of our favorite bridal event, this big fake wedding did not disappoint.  The theme at this year's alternative bridal show was "not your typical rustic wedding."  The participating vendors, all listed below, took the theme and the inspiration board and created something truly magical to showcase their creativity and to give couples a myriad of ideas for their big day.

The event started with the creation of a save the date, announcing the big day, then an engagement session with a lucky couple.  The night before the wedding event, the couple and vendors were invited to a rehearsal dinner at Edgehill Village Cafe (which was delicious!).  The ceremony and reception took place the following night, both held at the Cannery.  We were treated to a beautiful, vow renewal ceremony followed by a full reception, with dinner, cake, ice cream and dancing!

Enjoy the pre-event and ceremony photos below and check back tomorrow for images from the reception.
